T.REX, DAVID BOWIE, ROXY MUSICなどと共にグラム・ロック全盛期にキラキラと存在したモット・ザ・フープルの74年の作品がこのアルバムです。結果的に最後のオリジナル・アルバムになった今作ですが彼らのアルバムの中で一番テンションが高いです。そして何よりも凄くキラキラしてます。ボウイのジギーに負けず劣らずグラムな世界を作り上げていて１曲、１曲のクオリティーも異様に高く一気に最後まで聴けます。イアン・ハンターの哀愁漂うボーカルもすばらしいですが、モーガン・フィッシャーのグラム丸出しのピアノを聴いただけで涙腺が緩んでしまいます。因みにモーガン・フィッシャーはイエローモンキーのシックスにも参加しています。イエローモンキーファンの方にもぜひお勧め！

九曲目の「パールとロイ」を聴くと、私はとてもわくわくして、
だけど、なぜか妙に涙腺が緩みそうになります。
ヤケクソ大合唱調といいますか、なんか、胸躍る刹那さみたいな
言葉足らずでうまく表現できません。好きです。
ほかにもイイ曲が一杯あります。全部好きです。

１９７４年にリリースされたモット・ザ・フープル最後のオリジナル・アルバム。モット・ザ・フープルは、いわゆる”グラム・ロック”のパイオニアに位置するバンド。ヴォーカルのイアン・ハンターを中心にした５人編成のバンドである。1「ロックン・ロール黄金狂時代」は、邦題ではアルバム・タイトルに使われた曲。これが実に愉快なロックン・ロールで、ロック・ファンの方には是非一度聞いて欲しい曲。全体的には、1で象徴されるような熱い作品に仕上がっている。グラムロックファンの方にはお薦め。モット・ザ・フープルなら、このアルバムがまずはお薦め。
