Jakalopeの第2弾！！
前作Dreams同様、「ゴスの鬼才、デイブ・オギルヴィー率いる…」のうたい文句での登場、そして豪華なゲストミュージシャンが参加しているようです。
私はそのようなあたりには詳しくないので割愛させていただきます。

今回はJakalopeというフレームがはっきりしてきたとともに、Katie Bの成長も感じられます。
ギターにのせるには少し頼りないように感じられた声も、芯がしっかりしたようです。
相変わらずの不思議なメロディーもしっかり歌い上げています。
ジャケットも可愛さより大人っぽさが目立ちます。

原歌詞を載せたインナースリーヴに「Jakacorpse」なる生き物にも注目！！
森チャックを含む豪華なアーティスト4人で描き上げられたそうです。
上から4等分されているようですが、そこが味。

お勧めは 12. SOMETHING NEW です。
デイヴが影響を受けたという'80sに通じる作品のせいかはわからないけれど、どこか懐かしさを感じるトラックになっています。

最後に訂正ですが、日本ボーナストラック(13、14)の収録順番が逆に掲載されています。正しくは、
　13. PRETTYLIFE (THE RESPIRATOR RIMIX)
　14. BURIED
です。そこだけが惜しいところでしょうか。

5.0 out of 5 stars 中毒性のある甘美なダークファンタジーロック, 2009/8/15
「ドリームズ」を輸入盤で聞いて、その独特さが一発で気に入り、この「ボーン・フォー」は国内盤にしてみました。
ジャケットの不気味可愛いイラストが雰囲気満点。
紙ジャケ風なのも文句無し!
このセカンド・アルバムでは、アコースティックなところも見え隠れさせつつ、甘く切なげに・・・
そしてグイグイこちらに迫って来るような音とボーカルの個性で、ダーク且つ不可思議な世界に誘います。
1作目より強烈個性のカドが取れて、より練れてきてる気もします。
で、これからの作品にも期待したいところで、ケイティBがジャカロープを脱退したという話もありますが、どうなっちゃうんでしょう??

ヘヴィメタなどとはまた趣の違うダークさを持つ、このジャカロープの音楽性がたまらなく好きなんですけどねぇ・・
