●1976年発表。ボブ・ディラン、ロン・ウッド、ロビー・ロバートソン、リチャード・マニュエル、リック・ダンコ、ジョージー・フェイム、ビリー・プレストン、ジェシ・エド・デイヴィスなどなど、総勢40人程の超豪華ゲストを迎えて制作されたスタジオ録音ソロ・アルバム第4作。前2作のようなレゲエ色は消え、ストレートでブルージーなロック・サウンドを展開した。

【アーティストについて】
60年代前半にジェフ・ベック、ジミー・ペイジとともにヤードバーズに在籍。ブリティッシュ・ロック３大ギタリストと称された天才ギタリスト。クリーム、ブラインド・フェイス、デレク＆ドミノスなどの活動を経て、ソロに転進し、今なおトップ・ギタリストとして最前線で活躍中。

７６年発表。自らのバントと製作した４枚目の作品。３．のボブ・ディランとのデュエットのみがクローズ・アップされる作品だが、スワンプ路線の優れたアルバムであり、ファン以外にも聞いてほしい好作品である。クラプトン自身も一番好きなアルバムにこの作品を上げており、その理由は先のディランの参加や優れた作品が含まれていることはもちろんあるだろうが、あこがれのザ・バンドのメンバー５人が参加していることが大きいだろう。１．はいきなりソウルフルなカントリー・ワルツで、期待通りでワクワクする。２．はクラプトンらしいポップなロック・ナンバー、ソウルフルなバックコーラスとの掛け合いが素晴しい。３，はディランの作品でディランが参加しているが、思いっきりザ・バンド風の作品で味わい深い。ハックはザ・バンドの面々だろう。５．はリック・ダンゴの曲であり、当たり前だがザ・バンドそのもの。クラプトンが嬉しそうに歌っている顔が聞いているだけで伝わってくる６．は当時のツアーのオープニングにも用いられた代表曲の一つ。

久し振りにこのCDを聞くと、やっぱりクラプトンはバンド、ディランが本当に好きなんだなあと思います。このレコーディングの時の音源がまだ未発表のものがたくさんあるらしいので、その内出るのかと期待しています。
