何度でも見たくなる映画がある。そして間違いなく「卒業」はその一本である。

私は当時まだ子供で、「小さな恋のメロディ」は理解できても「卒業」は判らなかった。
ミセスロビンソンって悪いおばさんだなぁなんて・・・。
その頃「俺たちに明日はない」「猿の惑星」「００７は二度死ぬ」「冒険者たち」等々、
キラ星の如く強い印象を与える作品が多く、その中に「卒業」の輝きを見抜けなかった。

しかし大学生になり、結婚する時期を経て、登場する大人の機微も理解出来るようになる。
サイモンとガーファンクルの歌声と共に、「卒業」は輝きをだんだん増してきたのである。

最近は、永島敏行が撮影現場を旅するＴＶ番組で取り上げた際、またアン・バンクロフトが
亡くなった際（悪いおばさんでも悲しい！）、無性にこの映画を見たくなった。

何回目かに見た際、下宿屋の下宿人の中に、若きリチャード・ドレイファスを発見したりした。

最初に見たときは、子供の頃で話の展開にドキドキしました。ロビンソン婦人と娘のエレンと、最後は結婚式での略奪か・・・ショックでした。本当の意味が分かるまで時間がかかりました。最初はサイモンとガーファンクルの音楽の方が印象に残ったのですが、改めて見ると、ダスティン・ホフマン、アン・バンクロフトの演技、キャサリン・ロスの可憐さが光ります。本当に完成度が高い作品です。

ミセス・ロビンソン（アン・バンクロフト）の訃報をニュースで知り、一時代が終わったような気がして、３０年以上ぶりにこの映画を観ました。
観るに耐えないかと思いきや・・少しも古くないです！どころかサイモンとガーファンクルの名曲の数々の新鮮さ、大好きなダスティン・ホフマンの初々しさと言いようもない魅力、映像の美しさ、真っ赤なアロファロメオで駆け抜けるシーン、教会からエレーンを略奪するシーンなど、極めて印象的な場面の数々。さすがに名作と言われるだけのことはあります。
ちなみにペーパーバックも読んでみましたが、原作では車は売ってしまい、あの美しい場面ありませんでした・・
しかし青春のいらだちや不安は、いつの時代も共通のものだと改めて思いました
