5.0 out of 5 stars 独自の美学の到達点, 2007/9/15
87年発表の3rd Albumで、シルヴィアンの最高傑作との呼び声も高い名盤です。
本人自身も『完璧な絵画のようだ』と自画自賛するように、
アコギやピアノ、トランペット(この人は本当にこの楽器が好きですね)などの生楽器主体の音像に、
それを巧みに盛り上げる叙情的なシンセが溶け込んでいく様は、
心地良い葉音の元で木漏れ日が揺れるような情景を思い浮かべます。
あまりにも月並みだとは思いますが…

中でも4.Orpheusや9.Waterfrontは、
デヴィッドのヴォーカルスタイル(好き嫌いは激しく別れるでしょうが)の極地ともいうべき名曲です。

他のレビュアーの方も仰られているように、
唯一無ニな才能をサポートする、確固とした理論の修得者として、
やはりこのアルバムにおける教授の貢献は大きなものがあったのだと思います。

ボーナストラックは現在再販されているものでは未発表曲のPromiseになっていますが、
以前のものはMerry Chirstmas Mr.Lawrenceのヴォーカル入りverのForbidden Coloursで、
(個人的には)以前のVerの方がアルバムの終止をハッキリと意識させてくれて良かったかなと…

なんといってもシブイの一言に尽きる。orpheusは、哀愁を帯びていて、今は季節が違うけど、秋にぜひ、聞いてもらいたい。sylvianと教授のコラボは、板についた感がある。ただ、教授６対sylvian４の割合かなと思う。近年dead bees on a cakeで、新作を出したけど、secrets...
にはかなわないと思う。それほど、音の完成度といい、ジャケットのよさ、曲のよさは完璧だといえる。

ヴァージンレーベル物の”ジャパン””デヴィ・シル”のアルバム再発にあたり、それぞれボーナストラックが収録されていますが、残念な事にこのアルバムにも、過去に発売されたシングルからの収録もれがあります。

１２インチシングル・レコード”let the happiness in"
のB面に収録の「BLUE OF NOON」
Sylvian , Steve , 坂本、参加のJAZZ風の曲。（未CD化）

せっかくの再発なのに、とても残念です・・・・
製作、構成するレーベルの方も、もう少し愛情をもって作って欲しいものです。
（david本人は、恐らく製作には関係してないと思うので、余計に・・）
次回、必ず収録してください。

最初から最後までシルヴィアンの才能が実にうまく凝縮された作品。
彼のバランス感覚はこの後、失われていくあたり時期的にもこの頃が最高だったんでしょう。
