1972年に発売されたよしだたくろうの「旅の宿」、73年の井上陽水の「夢の中へ」、かぐや姫の「神田川」から、83年の安全地帯の「ワインレッドの心」まで、フォークやニューミュージックと呼ばれた音楽ジャンルを代表する16曲を収録しています。

個別細分化が進み、各人の関心ある音楽ジャンルがますます多様になっている現代と比べて、これらの音楽は、その世代に共通した愛唱歌という役割を担っていました。団塊の世代や少し後に生まれた人達なら、ワンコーラスを口ずさむことができるのも収録曲の愛され方を表わしているようです。

「歌は世に連れ、世は歌に連れ」と言いますが、どの曲も当時の世相を蘇らせ、記憶に残る思い出を目の前に再現してくれるものばかりです。それだけ、歌が世の中に影響を与えることができた時代だったかも知れませんし、人々が今以上に歌を愛した時代だったのかも知れません。

松山千春の「季節の中で」、アリスの「遠くで汽笛を聞きながら」、中島みゆきの「悪女」、そして鬼籍に入られた河島英五の「酒と泪と男と女」など、名曲と言って良いほどの曲ばかりです。

豪華な別冊のリーフレットには、見開きの2頁で、それぞれの曲の解説と発売当時のレコードジャケットの写真、そして世相のトピックスが掲載されていますので、歌を聴きながら、解説を読むとより一層懐かしさが増してきます。好企画・好編集だったと思います。
