Mic Lifeと言えば、海外の良質なヒップホップ音源を掘り起こしてくれるレーベルであるが、
本作では日本人ビートメーカーに焦点を当てて製作されたインスト・ビート集である。

製作に関わったのは、Shin-Ski of Martiangang、DJ RYOW a.k.a. smooth current、
Levitatorz、Cradleの日本人ビートメーカー4組（LevitatorzはShin-SkiとDJ RYOWのユニット）。
彼らについてはあまりよく知らないが、どうやら世界的にも注目を浴びている4組のようだ。
最近の本国でのヒップホップの動向を知るには割りと良い1枚であると思われる。

内容的には多彩なビートにサンプリングによるソウルフルでジャジーなサウンドが絡むといった具合。
あくまで個人的な意見だが、サウンドを構成している音数が多すぎるというか、多少耳障りである。
見方を変えれば"彩り鮮やか"ということでプラスなのだが、もっと削ぎ落とすところは削ぎ落として
ほしかった。Pete Rock や Jay Dee、さらにはATCQのような無駄のないトラックメイクこそが
真の意味でのイマジネーションを掻き立てるサウンドであると思う。まぁあくまで好みの問題だが。

作品自体の評価は星3つだが、同じ日本人として今後の活躍を期待したいので総評は星4つ。

mic lifが仕掛けるユニット、dj ryow,shin-ski,levitatorz,cradle,の四人が奏でるクラシック、。ストレートに語りかけるメロディーラインとその緩急をつくスクラッチに誰にも邪魔されずに聞き入りたくなる魔力がある。ヌジャベス好きの人にはおすすめします。
