1. Dear friend

2006年第二弾シングルはフジテレビ月9ドラマ『トップキャスター』主題歌。
デビュー5年目の節目にもなるシングルのタイトルはずばり「Dear friend」。女の子同士の友情をテーマにしたSowelu史上もっとも軽快なポップナンバーです。
2002年4月に「beautiful dreamer」でデビュー。これまでに2枚のオリジナル・アルバム(『Geofu』『SWEET BRIDGE』)がリリースされ、いずれもオリコンチャートBEST5入り。さらに2005年2月には全国6大都市(札幌・仙台・東京・名古屋・大坂・福岡)にて初のワンマンライブツアーが大成功。同年7月にはさまざまなアーティストとの異種格闘技戦、コラボレーション・アルバム『Heads or Tails?』も話題となったSoweluが前作「to YOU」から約3ヶ月という早いペースでの新曲リリース。

Soweluさんが歌っているというのは意外な感じがするような、アップテンポな曲です。
失恋もそうだけど、何か落ち込んだときに、そばに来て立ち直らせてくれる絶好の一言をプレゼントしてくれるのは、「親友」です。
２コーラス目の歌詞「“明日には明日の風が吹くはずだ”と　set me free」というフレーズがとても気に入りました。
この曲は、Soweluさんとしては挑戦の一曲というふうにも受け取れます。落ち着いたムードの歌だけではなく、幅を持とうとしたように感じられます。詞も韻を踏む手法を取り入れて、今風です。

歌上手いしコラボ曲は無茶苦茶上手くいってる曲ばかりなのになんで本人名義のシングルはここまで野暮ったくなっちゃうのか・・・
そこそこトップキャスターも好調、キャリア自体も長いのに何故か目立たずに終わってしまうのもしょうがないかなという曲。
まぁシャラマーカバーの出来を聴いてると見劣りするのは確かなんだが。。
それにしてもベタなgirl pop系というかウィスパー寄りなアンビ系に固執しすぎてるのがなんだかなと。
ド直球ポップにすら行ってないイマイチな曲。
最新アルバムでもGet Overがカットの意味不明状況。訳わからんなぁ・・・ここまでクラブモノDIVAとして開花してるのに・・・

月９トップキャスターの主題歌。
春らしい爽やかな曲ですぐに気に入りました。
誰が歌ってるのかなぁと思ってたらsoweluさんとはちょっと意外だったんですけど、とっても素敵な歌声です。
