ロック界のサム・ペキンパー、故ウォーレン・ジヴォンの中期の名盤三枚を紙ジャケで復刻。本作は80年発表の4作目(アサイラム/エレクトラでは3作目)。ブルース・スプリングスティーンとの共作「ジニーと殺し屋」、退廃的な生活を歌った「プレイ・イット・オール・ナイト・ロング」など彼のアルバムの中では最もハードボイルドな一枚。ジャクソン・ブラウン、イーグルス、リンダ・ロンシュタット、J.D.サウザーなど豪華ゲストが参加。本作は紙ジャケ仕様で日本のみ1000枚の限定発売。なお、今回の紙ジャケは日本製です。また同作のアメリカ盤は現在廃盤です。

今は亡きWarren Zevonの三作目
イーグルスはじめ、豪華メンバーによって製作されております。
一作目には劣るかもしれないけれど、名曲目白押し。
ギターのかっこいい1、泣ける4、Springsteenとの協作7
EaglesのDon Henley、Glen Freyのコーラスがきれいな12等
いい曲ばっかり。
彼が亡くなったのはほんとに惜しい...。

ちなみに7はBruce Springsteenが同名の曲を作っていることを
知ったZevonがBruceに自分の曲を聴かせにいき、Bruceが「いい曲
だな、ところで詩は？」と言ったところ「お前が書くんだ」といって
押し付けて出来たとのこと。
ちなみにBruceは自作の方はお蔵入りさせたらしいです。

West CoastのAsylumレーベルにあっては異色のキャラクターを持つ故ウォーレン・ジヴォンの通算4作目。爽やかさからは遠い男臭い世界が繰り広げられています。ワディ・ワクテルのギターはじめ、リンダ・ロンシュタットやイーグルスのメンバー等アサイラム一派が総出演。それでもジヴォン・ワールドは華やかではなく、あくまで渋く展開されます。サウンド的にはスタジオ・ミュージシャンによるバンドサウンドがベース。出過ぎないバランスでウォーレンの渋いヴォーカルを引き立てます。曲にそれぞれ力があるため、音が地味な割には引きつけられたまま最後まで聞けます。地味ながら秀作。
