このバンドにカテゴリーは必要ないでしょう

音が鳴り始めたら、『デッドウイング』の世界に引きずりこまれます。周りの空気が変わる音
まるで映画を見ているかの様です。
時に激しく時に美しく…エッジの効いたギターもけして『やかましさ』がないのが不思議。ドラマティックに盛り上げています。ピアノ、メロトロンの美しい音は癒されます、さらに『歌モノ』といっていい程歌メロは耳に残ります。プログレ初心者にもお薦めできます


ただ良い音楽がここにある
それだけでいい

アルバム一枚通しても何度でも聴ける。また一曲ずつ取り出しても素晴らしい(どの曲が、というのが難しい。すべて良い)

つたないレビューで申し訳ない…ただ、聴いてもらえば私の言わんとしてる事が理解していただけるでしょう


初回限定で過去の曲が収録されたCDが付いてますが、日本盤には本編と合わせて2曲のボーナストラックも付いてて(これも美味)お値段は通常盤と同じでお買い得です

ポーキュパインツリーの初の国内盤がついに発売！
この時をどれほど待っていたか・・・
既に彼らの総キャリアは19年目に達しており
その音は既に現代プログレの重鎮としての貫禄すら漂わせている。
アルバム全体の構成も素晴らしく、
飽きることなく最後まで聴くことが出来る。
彼らのサウンドを評価するときによく言われるのは90’sピンクフロイドだが、
彼ら自身はそういった固定観念に囚われることを嫌い
貪欲なまでに全てのジャンルを取り込んでいる。
彼を規定することは非常に難しく
サイケ、プログレ、ヘビィーロック、テクニカル・メタルいかようにも
解釈でき、かつそのどれにも属していない。
重厚で激しいサウンドの中にメロディアスで繊細な部分を併せ持つ。
演奏でだけで聴かせるのではなく、歌だけで聴かせるのでもない。
この最高にカッコいい独自のサウンドは彼らにしか出すことはできないし
彼等の真似をしようとしてもそれは失敗に終わるだろう。

このアルバムは非常に聴きやすいため、
プログレ入門用としても最適である。
特にハードロックファンやメロディック・メタルファンは
違和感なく受け入れることができるだろう。

かのロバートフリップやジョンウェットン、はたまた、ＲＵＳＨのニールパートらにも賞賛されるプログレバンドの本邦デビューアルバムです。ロバートフリップが賞賛したためばかりではないでしょうが、ｄｒのギャヴィンハリソンはＫＣのＬＩＮＥＵＰ７に加入するという、まことしなやかな噂が。
で、サウンドですが、ギルモアフロイドに似ているといわれるとおり、リーダーのスティーブンウィルソンのエッジの効いたＧ＆ｖｏを中心にしたサウンドなのですが、そこに、ｋｅｙによる浮遊感のある空間も加わり、時には、ジェネシスばりの叙情的なメロディ、そして、時には、ＤＴのようなハードメタリックなサウンドと、非常に多彩で、これは、もう、ポーキュパインツリーオリエンティッドとしかいいようのないサウンドになっています。
しかも嬉しいのは、最近のプログレハードバンドのように、決して、テクに頼ることなく、ソフトの部分で、きっちりプログレしていること。遅れてやってきたビッグネームの傑作アルバムです。プログレファンであれば、是非、一聴を。
