   交通事故で母親を亡くした少年・透。そんな彼はある日、海岸で不思議な卵を拾った。その卵からかえったカメを“トト”と名づけ、父親に内緒で飼い始める。だが“トト”は驚くべき早さで成長し、空中に浮かぶように。かつて人間を守るために自爆までした伝説の怪獣ガメラなのでは…という考えがよぎる中、怪獣ジーダスが出現。まだ5mほどの大きさの“トト”は、果敢にもジーダスに立ち向かっていくのだが…。
   95年~99年に作られた“平成ガメラ3部作”とは関係なく、あくまでも子どもの視点の冒険ファンタジーとして紡がれたもの。クリクリとした目を持つ、あまりにも生物感のない子ども向けな“トト”の外見は今ひとつだが、物語は動物映画的な視点もありなかなかおもしろい。子どもたちにはぜひとも観てほしい冒険ファンタジーだ。（横森 文）

角川ヘラルドからのガメラシリーズ第一弾。

金子・樋口コンビの“平成ガメラ”シリーズは、
「大人になった特撮ファンのための映画」であった。
昭和ガメラにあったような、子供視線はなく、
あくまで「むかし夢中になった特撮を、
オトナになった自分が作ったらこうなる」
作品だったのだ。

しかし、“角川ガメラ”シリーズ(あえてこう呼ぼう)は、
「ガメラは子供の味方」という、
昭和ガメラ時代に、巨大なライバルである“ゴジラ”と
一線を画すために持ち出したフレーズを、
“角川ガメラ”はまるで“平成ガメラ”シリーズへの
アイロニーのように再生させた。

現在、純粋な子供向けの日本映画はアニメ以外に見当たらない。
(「水の旅人〜侍KIDS」以来まともにない？)
そんな業界の状況に一石を投じた、
貴重な作品であろう。

これを単品で出した理由がわかりません。"小さき勇者たち~ガメラ~"本編の特典にでも入れてほしかったです。メイキングも大したことなく、怪獣のデザインが激ダサ!!(特にジーダス)「着ぐるみ大会でもやってんのか」って感じです。はっきり言ってこれを買う必要ないです。
でも、"小さき勇者たち~ガメラ~"本編はお勧めです。"こぎつねヘレン"とかぶりますが、心あったまる話です。ぜひDVDでたら見てください!!

昭和ガメラシリーズ最終作のお子様ランチてんこ盛り状態の「宇宙怪獣ガメラ」から平成ガメラシリーズ三部作に引き継がれ大人でも楽しめるテイストで大いに溜飲を下げたのもつかの間、新たなガメラ作品がリリース！

題名を見てびっくり！「小さき勇者たち」？　・・・まあとにかく見に行こうと近所の子供をつれて映画館へ。場内は家族連れの多い事多い事！
本編が始まっても子供達のざわめきが収まらず、じっくり落ち着いて見れなかったが、内容はよーく判った。

完全お子様向けです。「ガメラ３」の凶悪でシャープな造形ではなく、お目目ぱっちりの何とも可愛い造形。
そしてお約束？の怪獣対決。最後の悲しい別れなど、泣かせる要素たっぷり。
この平成新ガメラはシリーズ化されるのかな・・・・

このＤＶＤは、本編の解説編（ガイドブック）。
メイキングシーンがたっぷり詰まっており、出演者のインタビューも収録。
特にいち早く「トト」正体に気づいた夏帆ちゃんが可愛いです！
