久々のhitです。新人らしからぬ堂々とした歌いっぷり。
ループペダルを踏みながら演奏しているのにはビックリ。
ライヴパフォーマンスもソングライティング能力も抜群です。
「Black Horse and the Cherry Tree」、「Sudeenly I See」は文句なしにいい曲です。「Silent Sea」や「Stoppin' The Love」はその声のかすれ具合から伸びのある歌声からノラ・ジョーンズを想起させます。
でも他のどのアーティストとも異なるのはやっぱりケイティーの独特な演奏手法。本当に音楽を愛しているのが伝わってきます。
すでにイギリスでは時の人となっているケイティー。もっともっと日本でも有名にならないかな。
今から次回作も楽しみです。

シングル曲「Suddenly　I　See」が会社でつけっぱなしにしているj-waveでガンガンにかかっていて結構気に入ってしまった。しかしどうせ買ってもすぐ聴かなくなりそうなので「買うまいぞ、買うまいぞ」と自分に暗示をかけていたのだが、ついに根負けした形で購入。期間限定1,980円だし。

意外なことに「Suddenly　I　See」のような元気な曲は少なく、全体的には湿り気のあるアコースティックなサウンド。それだけに聴けば聴くほど味が出る。歌唱にも相当幅広い表現力があり、デビュー作とは思えない風格さえ感じさせる傑作。

一度聴いただけで判断するのは早計。

ラジオで耳にして「これは」と思い購入しました。久々にすごい新人がでたなと思います。雰囲気としてはデビュー当時のシェリルクロウを思わせ、渋みとポップ感がうまく同居しているかんじです。アルバムの販促サイトからライブ演奏が見れますが、その場で自分の演奏をサンプリングして音を重ねていくという手法がおもしろいです。エレキではたまに見かけますが、アコギでやる人を初めてみて、結構度肝を抜かれました。しかも、この手法はある程度音楽的に実力がないとできないので、彼女がアブリルあたりのアイドルロック連中とは全然違う事がよくわかります。日本盤ボーナストラックは、本編以上に渋いブルージーな佳曲で、彼女の音楽的な奥深さが感じられます。最近は、変に流行を意識した不自然な歌唱をする歌手が多いですが、彼女はキャロルキングなどをフェイバリットとしてあげるだけあって、まっすぐで心意気が伝わってくる歌をうたいます。歌も上手いし、楽器も弾けて、曲も歌詞もよし、早くも次回作が気になってしまうくらい大きなスケールを感じさせてくれます。
