プロデューサーがグレン・バラードになり、更にメロディアスになるとは予想していましたが、公式ＨＰで聴く限り予想以上に良いです！基本路線は変わっていませんが、より力強く、より美しくなった感じがします。前作もそうでしたがハードな楽曲がほとんど収録されていないようなので、彼らのハードな曲が好みの方には物足りないかもしれませんが、個人的にはそれでも充分満足できる内容だと思います。いつの間にか公式ＨＰがリニューアルされてたので興味のある方は是非！

2006年発売、The Goo Goo Dolls、4年ぶりの8thアルバム。
「Let Love In」という甘いタイトルのとおり、John Rzeznikの書く美しいメロディーが聴く人を甘い世界に誘うアルバムだ。
楽曲の完成度は過去最高であり、ヒット作である「A Boy Named Goo」や「Dizzy Up the Girl」を超えている。
オープニング曲"Stay with You"の躍動感に胸が高鳴り、"Without You Here"の感傷的なメロディーに心癒され、"Can't Let It Go"でのJohnの歌声は聴く者に希望を与えてくれる。
これら以外の曲も素晴らしい曲ばかりで、捨て曲無しのアルバムだ。
これほどの傑作でありながら、今のアメリカで、このアルバムをヒットさせることは難しかったようだ。
あるインタビューでJohnが、こう言っていた。
「"Iris"を出した頃と比べると、オレら、今はそんなにビッグじゃないんだ。レコードの売上げもそこまで行っていない」
筆者はJohnに、こう言いたい。
「ヒットが出ないから僕達がGoo Goo Dollsを嫌いになるなんてありえない。ヒットが出たら嬉しいけど、それよりも、これからもずっと素晴らしい曲を聴かせてほしいんだ」

先入観を持たずに聴いたならばおそらく最高傑作になるはず。とにかく美しい。聴けば聴くほどにそれは際立ってくる。過去の作品と比べたくなる気持ちはよくわかるがあまり意味がない事に気付くだろう。
