この作品には多くの説明は不要だ。信楽焼きに身を捧げた女を演じる田中裕子の迫力ある演技。陶芸の道に進み始めたが、白血病に冒され闘病生活をおくる息子窪塚俊介の痛々しい演技。そして、高橋伴明監督のリアルで訴えかけるような演出。どれもが素晴らしく、特に後半の闘病生活に入ってからは母子の通い合う心の動き、白血病の闘病生活の辛さ（骨髄移植手術やその後の闘病生活はリアル）、心骨髄移植の重みは観る者の心に痛いほど突き刺さる。リアルなのは闘病生活だけでなく窯と葛藤する田中裕子は神山清子という芸術家が乗り移ったような気迫さえあった。
監督の母親のパワフルな母親の弱い面の描き方も絶妙で、特に息子を抱きかかえ涙を流しながら子守唄を歌う田中裕子に患者の一人（高橋伴明一家の一人である下元史朗）が「もっと、大きな声で歌ってやらんと、息子に聞こえんやろ」と叱咤されるシーンは涙なしには観られない。
骨髄移植と人間の命というものを真摯に考えさせられる高橋伴明の入魂の一作であろう（高橋伴明監督のファンには久々にうれしい作品だった）。

映画としてはざっくりとしている面はある。
しかし、高橋伴明の強い意志。そして、なにより田中裕子の迫力。予想外（といっては失礼だが）窪塚俊介の素朴さそして真剣さ。その他　出演人　音楽人の思いの強さを感じる。
一人でも多くの骨髄バンクドナーを増やすためにも多くの人に見てもらいたい。
そして、若い人には是非見てもらいたい映画だと思う。
5☆をつけざるえまい。

信楽の陶芸家神山清子の実話がベース。
・女手ひとつで息子の賢一と娘の久美子を育てる
・独自の窯で不可能とされた信楽自然釉の再現する
・賢一が白血病で倒れ、骨髄バンクの活動をはじめる
・賢一の闘病
という柱で母の強さ・芸術家の情熱・社会の仕組みについて魅せてくれます。

まずは、田中裕子さんの演技力に圧倒されます。芸術家として生きる女性の芯の強さを、
母の強さをしっかり伝えてくれます。

次に映像の美しさに目を奪われます。実際の信楽の窯で実際の火でリアルな映像が印象に
残ります。最近のCGやクレーン映像がなく、限りなく現実に近い、しかもすばらしく美しい
映像に仕上がっています。
闘病の病室シーンは、「世界の中心で・・」にもでてきますがセカチューの映像が幻想的で
ロマンチックでこれ以上ないくらい切ない映像になっているのに対し、この映画では
現実的で痛々しく病人と家族のやるせない愛情がたまらなくあふれ出てくる映像になっています。

そしてリアルであるがために単調に見える映像をしっかりとサポートする音楽が丁寧に
背後を固めています。

正直実話をベースにということで、ドラマティックな脚本になっていない分だけ
話の展開は最近の映画にしてはさらっと流れてしまう感じがします。
しかし、ラストの喪主として白喪服をきた清子が賢一に「おかえり」というシーン、
そのままの姿で窯に薪を投げ込んでいくシーンなどリアルに美しい。
そういう丁寧に作っているのだけれど、作りこんだのではなく元からそこにあったと
思わせる珠玉のシーンがいくつもみられます。

ちなみに焼物自体も本物のようです。
