内容紹介

元はヘヴィ・メタル・ホーンズという名前で活動していたボストンのヴェテラン・ジャズ・ファンク・バンドです。
これまでのアルバム(4枚出てます)にはサム・キニンジャー、メルヴィン・スパークスなどが参加、ジャムバンド・シーンでも多少の知名度はあるようです。
音の方はタワーでわりと売れてる様子のファット・ジャンクションというバンドなどに近い、ホーンが前面にフィーチャーされたブラス・ファンク・バンドといった趣で、サム・キニやレタスなどのファンには申し分のない音作りです。

元ヘヴィ・メタル・ホーンズのメンバーを中心に結成されたジャズ・ファンク・ユニットのアルバム。たたみかけるようなグルーヴィかつファンキーなサウンドが堪能できる。サム・キニンジャーも参加。

何度も聞き直して、また暫くして聞き直して......
何が足りないかよくわからないけど、何かが足りない。
狙っているだけにしか思えない。
期待していただけに、残念。
どうして人気があるのだろう.....。

とにかくファンキー！とにかくカッコイイ！ホーンセクションの楽しさは云うまでもなく、リズムセクションも申し分ない。70年代のフュージョンの音が懐かしい人にはいいかも。タワーオブパワー/クルセーダーズ/バーナード・パーディー
等が好きな人にはお勧めです。

従来この手のバンドはホーンの圧倒的な音量と迫力、一糸乱れぬ統一感といった方向に走りがちだが、そんなことに頓着せずファンクだ！グルーヴだ！理屈抜きに楽しもうぜ！という人におススメ。
才気走ってテクニックをひけらかすよりバンド全体で楽しもうというリラックス感に溢れている。
そうなる大きな原因は、管楽器を全面的に押し出さずギターとキーボードが常にリズムを刻んでいるところと、管の二人がヴォーカルも取っているところにあるのではないだろうか。
ド迫力のホーンサウンドを期待する向きには、ちょっと肩透かしを食らわされるかもしれない。
