正月番組「さんま・玉緒のお年玉 あんたの夢をかなえたろかスペシャル」にも登場したサックス奏者Kenny Gの新しいベスト盤が出ました。
U.S.盤「The Essential Kenny G」と収録曲が若干違います。その差異のうちの数曲は以前のベスト盤「グレイテスト・ヒッツ〜ニュー・エディション」に収録されていた曲でして、恐らく「グレイテスト・ヒッツ」との重複を増やすことを意識したものと思われます。(Kenny Gのベスト盤をはじめて買う人が出来るだけ悩まないように？) 「グレイテスト・ヒッツ〜ニュー・エディション」より１４曲多くて、このお値段なら、初めてKenny Gのベストを購入される人にはこちらをお薦めしたいです。２枚ともiPodに入れて(72.3MB+70.6MBの容量が必要)、リラックスしたい時に聞いています。かなり癒されますょ。(^-^)
なお、Kenny Gが一曲ごとに短いコメントをつけていて(英語＋日本語訳の両方あり)、頭の中で「へぇー」ボタンを押したくなります。(^o^)o Heh- 　ライナーノーツとともにお楽しみあれ。

summertime 。これが部屋に流れてくるだけで、空間が一変する。禁煙中のタバコに手が伸びる。サックスのある時代に生まれて良かった。Kenny Gが演奏する時代に生まれて幸せだ。初めて聞いてから１３年目、サックスを習い始めた。Kenny G は単にＢＧＭではないことを知った。脳のある部分を刺激しているのを感じる。融解するとしか言いようがない。

ケニー・Gのサックスの音色に酔いしれ、味わいながら、タイプしています。
彼の演奏を聴いていると、すべてがドラマチックに感じられる。
大都会の夜景を、摩天楼から見下ろしながら、きっと、素敵な夜が迎えられます。
そのようなイメージが、僕の理想でもある。

心が吸い寄せられるような演奏と、心が軽くなる音色。
あなたの心に、この心地良い音色を届けたい。
いつも、隣にいて欲しい大切な人、大きなソファーで、くつろぎながら聴きたい音楽が、ここにあります。
