Following the critical and fanatical praise of last year's otherworldly "Where's My Love" single, Tokyo's Caroline releases her enchanting debut. "Murmurs" is a thing of blessed beauty that defies easy description, and it's nearly impossible to attach words to the supernatural brilliance of Caroline's songs. No samples were used. Dozens of live acoustic instruments (pianos, harps, bells, guitars, strings, and hand drums) are shaped around Caroline's crystalline voice and threaded together by warm bass and dense beats. With a transcendence that could give you chills on a blistering summer day just as easily as it could warm your body on a bitterly cold night, it's no wonder Caroline has developed a reputation as queen of the "snow jams."

特段ビョークを意識しているようには思えない。
そもそもそういった立ち位置で語るべきシンガーではない。
本人も唯一無比の、とか孤高の、とかいう評価は望んでないはず。
私個人の感想は「普通」というカンジで特別スゲーとかはない、
とにかくそれでも私はキャロラインの音楽が好きだ。
そもそもビョークと全然カンケーないでしょ？

ジャケットの美少女が妖精みたいでほんとに可愛いくて衝動買いだったのですが、このレーベル発にしては珍しい、キラキラふわふわしたかんじの可愛い音と、暖かみのある生音にちと驚きました。
日系の顔だなぁと思ったら、育ちは違えど沖縄生まれとのこと。
mumのクリスティンを彷彿とさせるウィスパリング・ボイス。(日本人で言うとカヒミカリィのような、仔猫の鳴き声みたいな細く高く掠れるような声。)
このアルバムはリリース元である Temporary Residence のwebサイト上で " weightlessness " ---- 無重力感を味わえる、と評されていましたが、看板に偽り無しという感じです。
狙いすぎてて若干あざとい気がしますが（この手の音はLeafやmorrで出し尽くされてる感もあるし･･･）希有なボーカルの可愛さに癒され和むので、暖かくなるこれからの季節にマッタリ聴きたいです。

引き合いに出すならばmumやemilie simon、ビョークと言った感じでしょうか。emilie simonが一番近いかな。ですがそれらの毒っ気のある暗い雰囲気を抜き、明るくした、優しいエレクトロポップです。エレクトロニカとゆうジャンルが苦手な方でも気持ち良く聞けると思います。私はMADE IN JAPANとゆう事を知り、軽くショックを受けました。ついに!と言った感じです。ともかくこの作品は大変気に入りました。
