　清々しい。久々のソロアルバムを聴いての第一印象は、これに尽きる。
ここ最近のソロ作は甘さが勝ちすぎている印象があったが、本作ではそれが
払拭され、シャープなサウンドが帰ってきた。

　とは言え、これまでのアルバムとはまた違う印象を与える。80年代から続く
神経症的なイメージからひとつ抜け、新しい地点にジャンプアップしているような
印象を受けた。ファーストから聴き続けている者にとっては、それが一番新鮮な
衝撃であった。音楽家というのは変わり続けられるものなんだなあ。

　お勧めは、（なぜか）ビートニクスの１stを彷彿とさせる４、イーノの
カヴァーでありながら誰が聴いても幸宏の曲にしか聴こえない５（ここでの
ヴォーカルは久々にうねりまくってます）、スケッチ・ショウ的なグッと来る
インスト６。名曲「Walking To The Beat」を再構成したような７も楽しい。

　ユキヒロ氏 7 年ぶりのソロアルバムである本作は、Sketch Show の「LOOPHOLE」でやったようなエレクトロニカ的なトラックの上に、ヴォーカルを載せて唄モノにするというのがコンセプトのようです。

　ここで特筆すべきは、単にサウンドだけがエレクトロニカ的なんじゃなくて、曲構成自体も、エレクトロニカのミニマル的な構成を踏襲していること。したがって、ポップスの黄金パターンである ABABC みたいなクライマックスのある構成はほとんど放棄されています。

　そんなんでポップスとして成立するのかなあと思いきや、聴いてみると意外とイケてるんですね、これが。まあ、レビューアーはいい加減音楽ズレしてるのでそう思うのかもしれませんが、ひょっとして、現在ちょっと閉塞気味のポップスの今後の進むべき方向は、こっちかもしれない、と思わせるものがありました。

　「LOOPHOLE」を聴いたときにも、多少そういう予感はあったのですが、唄モノの本作を聴いて、ますますその予感が強まったという感じ。「音楽殺人」や「ニウロマンティック」も、インストの YMO で培った技術を唄モノに応用するという趣がありましたが、ちょうどその図式が再現された格好です。もちろん、音色やリズムの取捨選択にはユキヒロ氏の絶妙のセンスが生きていて、だかろこんなことも言えるわけですが。

高橋幸宏という人はまるでスポンジのように他者を吸収して変化する。
かつてサディスティックスで煮詰まったときにテクノで細野に光明を与えられ、
自らは天才二人がバトルするYMOの中で、ポップス性に大きく寄与した。
そして今回も再び長いソロ活動でどんどんその世界観を収縮させてきた幸宏は
スケッチショウで再び細野にエレクトロニカの手法を提示された。
お題を与えられるとこの人は強い。本来の幸宏の持つ普遍的なPOPさに、
SKETCHSHOWのTronika以来展開しているフォーキーなエレクトロニカが
相乗効果を醸し出していて何とも味わい深い。
柔らかい音の中に相変わらずソリッドなビートが利いている。
復活高橋幸宏の、かつての名盤「WHAT, ME WORRY?」に並ぶ名盤の誕生です！
