70s初中期のCTIでジャズ/フュージョン・フルート奏者として活躍したH.ロウズの弟であるR.ロウズ(sax)の'75年作品。プロデュースは（当時クルセイダーズのメンバーだった）W.ヘンダーソンが担当しています。加えて、J.サンプル(elp、clv)やW.フェルダー(b)などが参加している関係か、結構、クルセイダーズっぽい音も有ったりしまが、基本的にはR.ロウズのサックスを中心になかなか面白い楽曲が詰まっています。
クラヴィネットのリフが時代を感じさせつつ、R.ロウズの饒舌なサックスがカッコいい[1]やダンサブルな[2]。J.サンプルのエレピとのからみが美しい[3]などなど、R.ロウズのオリジナル、他者からの提供曲、カバー曲の何れもがいい出来だと思います。
80s中後期のスムース・ジャズ系アルバムとはやはり一味違う"フュージョン"作品として楽しめます。
＃[6]辺りはレアグルーヴ好きの方にもお勧め。

まさに、70年代フュージョンの典型のようなサウンドなのだ。1975年の作品なので、この手のサウンドが日本のフュ−ジョンの見本となったのではなかろうか。これはリアルタイムで聴いてはいないが、なぜか懐かしい。それは少年時代に聴いた日本のフュージョンバンド「ネイティブ・サン」などを思い起こさせる音だからなのです。まだまだ聴き逃している70年代のフュージョン名作は沢山あるような気がしてきました。

いけません、これが彼のピーク作品でありデビューアルバム。ちょいと後期はとほほなのでございます。このアルバムではＲ＆Ｂ／ファンクにだいぶ影響を受けた形のスタイルであります。グローバーワシントンジュニア／ジェラルドオルブライトのラインを想像していただければ早いとは思います。チャカカーンがヒットさせたナンバーなど歌もの入れてポップな仕上がり。なぜだかこの後は失速。
１０点中９点　ファンキースムーズジャズ好きな人におすすめ
兄弟にラムゼイルイスがいるのでございます。
