鈍く光る紫に包まれたストーンズのなんとかっこいいことか…

黒人音楽へのリスペクトが強かった前作までとは違い、ミック、キースのペンによるオリジナル曲で固められた創造的な作品だ。
母親のピル常用について歌った「MOTHERS LITTLE HELPER」で始まるレコードに社会騒然、「GOIN' HOME」は性描写が強烈って理由で放送禁止になっちゃった。
なんといっても最高なのは「UNDER MY THUMB」。この紫のジャケットを眺めながら針を落とした瞬間、スリリングなマリンバの音色が宇宙へ連れてってくれる、ロックンロールの宇宙だ!!

酒もタバコもやらないが、ローリング・ストーンズを愛しているから俺は不良です。

5.0 out of 5 stars 初の全曲オリジナルのアルバム。, 2006/4/10
オリジナル曲の成功が自信になったのか、初めてカバー曲無しで発売されたアルバム。不思議な魅力のジャケットから、この時代の雰囲気が詰まっている気がします。
曲では、まず、ライブ・アルバムにも収録されている"Under My Thumb"のスタジオ録音が収録されています。また、"Out of Time"は、なぜかUS版には収録されていませんが、今聴いても新鮮で、全く古さを感じさせない、アルバム中一番好きな曲です。それと"I`m waiting"、スローなイントロから、曲調が変わって、ミックのシャウトがカッコいい、 こちらもお気に入りの曲です。US版には"Paint It,Black"が入っていますが、こちらはベスト版などでも聴けるので、どちらかを優先するのであれば、ジャケットも良いこちらのUK版の方が買いだと思います。
