７２年発表。ライヴでは好評を得るものの、それがアルバムのセールスに結びつかないという低迷期をを続けていたグループにデヴィッド・ボウイが力を貸し、プロデュースと名曲３．を提供したことにより完成したアルバム。一説には本作の製作を前にグループは解散しており、それを惜しんだポウイがグループの再編のためにプロデュースに名乗り出たという。その名曲の３．は後にホウイ自身が、提供したことを後悔したほどの名曲であり、かつモットのイメージを決定付けた「らしい」曲でもある。何にしてもこの頃のボウイは何かに取り付かれたかのように極上の名曲を次々と発表していた時期にあたり、これだけの曲を提供しても惜しくもなかったのだろう。それ以外の曲も全曲素晴しいが、１．はヴェルヴェッド・アンダーグラウンドの名曲のカヴァーで個人的にはかなりのお気に入りバージョンである。オリジナルのヴァージョンのテンポを少し早くした程度のものだが、ひたすらカッコ良くこのアルバムのカラーを決定している気がする。８．はバッド・カンパニーでも再演されているラルフスの曲。他のアルバムと比べて引き締まった印象があり、すっきりしているので聴きやすい作品だと思う。

２００６年の最新リマスター盤、オリジナル・アルバム収録はトラック９まで、Ｔ１０−１３がデモ、Ｔ14はボーカルにデビッド・ボウイが参加したバージョン、残り２曲がライブ、と旧盤所有者にも買い換える価値あり、

モットの熱心なファンほどモットの最高作には本作をあげないとおもうが、７０年代初期ブリティッシュ・ロックの名盤のひとつとして１度は聞くべき作品、Ｔ３の大ヒットとともに当時のグラム・ロック・ブームの一員としてブレイクしたわけだが、バンドの嗜好はストーンズとキンクスの舎弟のような正統派ブリティッシュ・ロックン・ロールであり、グラム・ロックのねっとりした雰囲気を本作に期待すると肩透かしの可能盛大、この後の作品のほうがグラムっぽいとおもう、

Ｔ８はのちにミック・ラルフスが加わるバッド・カンパニーのファーストでも再録音される名曲、普通のミュージシャンとすればこの"Ready For Love"１曲を発表できただけで生涯の宝とおもうが、その１０倍素晴らしい"All The Young Dudes"がデビッド・ボウイの輝かしい作品群のほんのひとつであることに気付けばボウイの天才がどれほど別格なものか再認識させられる、

おおくのファンが指摘するとおり「すべての若き野郎ども」はイタン・ハンターが歌ってこその魅力が満ち溢れていて、７０年代ロックの輝ける聖歌のひとつとして天国への階段やレイラやホテル・カリフォルニアと並べてしかるべき名曲です、

Mott the Hoopleが1972年に発表した5thアルバムであり、CBS Columbia移籍後の第1弾アルバム。
たぶん、彼らのアルバムの中で最もメジャーな作品だろう。
しかし、このアルバムが彼らの本質から最も遠い音であることも、よく知られている事実だ。
このアルバムは、プロデューサーであるDavid Bowieの色が濃く出ており、非常にグラマラスなロックン・ロールに仕上げられている。
全体的な雰囲気としては「Bowieが自分の大好きなバンドを自分色に染めた」という感じだ。
しかし、「だから駄作なのか？」というと、全くそんなことは無い。
このアルバムには、ロックン・ロールを愛する人間なら理屈抜きに愛してしまう音が詰まっている。
筆者は、今（2008年現在）から、20年くらい前に初めて本作を聴いた。
つまり、本作が発売された時点から15年後くらいに初めて本作を聴いたわけだ。
60〜70年代のロック黄金時代を実体験できなかった世代の筆者にとって、本作は、その時代の空気を感じさせてくれる大切な一枚である。
