メロディックデスメタル；

メロデス界の重鎮の８作目。

結論から言ってしまおう。
巷では『最高傑作』と呼ばれているが、初期ファンにしてみればそれは無い。
「やっぱクレイマンまでがいいじゃん」とか思うはず。
実際聴き比べると「全然新作より良いじゃん」とか思ってしまう（笑）
だが、前２作も文句垂れずに聴いているファンにしてみればこの作品は「最高傑作」と感じるには充分なポテンシャルを備えている。


６作目のRelote〜以降思いっきりアメリカナイズドされてしまい、初期のファンが相当数見切りをつけてしまった。
今までは正統派メタルにデス声を乗せるタイプだったのに対し、ループを使ったり、デジタル音色を増幅させ、今までのリフの良さも激減。
ギターソロも激減。
アメリカでは多少なりと評判は良かったようだが、初期のファンからしてみれば「終わった」バンドになってしまった。

続くSoundtrack〜はある程度ましになったものの、やはりあくまで前作の延長上であることには変わりは無かった。
恐らくクリーン声を使った歌メロがまずかったんじゃないかと思う。
まるでメタルコアの後追いの様な楽曲は初期ファンを引き戻す程の力は無かったように思う。
決して悪くはないのだが。。。

簡単に言ってしまうと、前２作は歌メロばかりに行ってしまい、肝心のギターのメロディラインがかなり弱くなっていたと言えるだろう。
恐らくそこがかなり痛かった。
もちろんモダンへヴィネスも原因だろうが、一番の原因はギターだったように思う。


そしてある意味勝負作の今作は一曲目から「今回は違う」と思わせるには充分な力を持っている。

のっけからメロデス全開。
これを否定するのは前２作ファンくらいじゃないかな？
初期ファンなら思わず「お！？」となると思う。

あえて言うなれば前２作で学んだ歌メロやシンセを抱えてクレイマン、コロニー時代に戻った感じかな？
ただ、初期〜中期はメイデン型のリフだったのに対し、今回はプリースト型のリフなので叙情性は昔程はないと思う。ギターソロも弱い。
だが、前２作に比べれば全然ギターラインがしっかりしているので、初期ファンがインフレイムスに復帰するのには良い機会なのではないかと思う。

しっかりメロディックデスをしているのでメロデスファンなら迷わず買いだと思う。

前２作が駄目だった人も怖がらず手を出してもらって良いと思う。
今回はギターメロディも良いし、歌も良い。

文句言うなれば、ギターソロがほしかった。。。
あとは多かれ少なかれメタルコア的な曲展開（疾走→サビでクリーン声＆テンポダウン　みたいな感じ）に抵抗を抱く人はいるかも。。
だが、メタルコアとは違い、バラエティに富んでいるし、ギターがかっこいいから怖がらなくても良いと思います。
でも全体を通すと単調かなあと思ってしまうのも事実。まだリフも少し弱いと思ってしまう。
だが、一曲一曲ピックアップすると、かなり良作なのはわかります。

やっぱメタルコアは絶対無理っていうお堅い方は止めた方がいいかな。。

最近のIn Flamesの作品から、少しアメリカ臭を抜いた作品、、、だが、いわゆるイエテボリデスメタルの中ではアメリカ感というか、逆にアメリカ人に最も影響を与えているであろう彼らの決戦の覚悟すら感じられるオリジナルメロデスの力作。
一曲一曲がコンパクトなのも注目。
ただ、Voは相変わらず、クリーンヴォイスがいまいちで、デス声も「普通」なレベル

最新アルバム+スタジオでのアルバム曲の演奏が収録されたDVDがついてきます
（メタリカのSt.Angerと同じフォーマットとお考え下さい）。
おまけのDVDはPS2でも再生できました。

個人的にIN FLAMESは3rdアルバムがサイコー！と思っていますので、
この作品に関しても、もう少しイエスパーのギターがメロディアスだったらとか、
もう少し荒涼とした音作りにしてくれたらとかといった不満はあります。

が、現在の彼らの状況を考えれば、アメリカという市場だけではなく自分達の
原点であるIron MaidenやJudus Pristへのオマージュも省みた作品ではないかと思います。
