ソフトロックシリーズを大人買いして、とりあえず、
これを聴いてみたのですが、聴いた瞬間にビックリ。

これって、ビートルズやビーチボーイズのペットサウンドと並ぶ
大変な完成度です！・・・でも、なぜ無名？
(買ったとき、ビギンというグループ名と思ってました)

冒頭のドラムからして、フリッパーズギターがサンプリングしそうな
ノリだし、コーラスもサウンドも、さわやかかつ幻想的です。
多大な予算をかけただけのことはありますが、当時はヒットせず。

帯に「ロックマニアに贈る」と書いてありますが、
これがマニア向けならビートルズもマニア向けでしょう。
紙ジャケ再発をきっかけにこの名盤に出会えて本当にラッキーでした。
世の中には、まだまだ隠れた名盤があるんですね。

ロッキング・オン誌で松村氏が、聞いたら驚くよ、というようにレビューしていたので買った。

カルフォルニア・プログレッシブ・ソフト・ロック、とCDに入っていたライナーには書かれていた。

それで聞いてみたら、
確かに驚いた。

これが、今をさかのぼること４０年ほどにもなる前の作品だなんて！

でも、
そういう驚きってよくあることだとも思う。

今が最先端であるという考えかたは、正しくない場合が多い。

日本刀を作る技術だったら大昔の方が今よりも最先端なのだし、
ピカソやゴッホだって昔の人だ。

アーティスティックなものは、その作品ができた時点が最先端なんだ。
