ギタリストであれば、誰もが知っているこの「Wired」。「Blow By Blow」と並んで、ギタリストのバイブルとして聴かれ、コピーされているアルバムです。初めて聴いたとき、なぜか懐かしく感じたそんな作品。
曲ごとに紹介すると「Led Boots」の変拍子のカッコイイリフ。ジャズの巨匠チャールスミンガスのカバー、感情豊かなトーンで弾かれる「Goodbye Pork Pie Hat」。ジェフベックの代表曲のひとつ「Blue Wind」。そして、最後にガットギターとエレキが絶妙に絡んで、哀しげに終わりを告げる「Love Is Green」。
百聞は”一聴”に如かず。ジェフベックの感性のギターを感じて下さい。

私はこれを聞いてエレキ・ギターをやろうと思った。とにかく、ぶっとばされた。いまでも、白のストラトが一番かっこいいと思っている。ジャケット、しびれるでしょ？

多くの人が「ブロウ・バイ・ブロウ」をベストに挙げるが、私はこっちだ。本作はヤン・ハマーの影響力が強い。というより、サウンドを完全に支配してしまっている。ヤン・ハマー・バンドに凄腕のギターがはいっているという出来である。アルバムとしてのバランスはイマイチで、比較的評価が低いが、ギタリストはこれを聞くべきだろう。ベックのギター・コントロールが前作よりさらに素晴らしいし、マイケル・ウォルデンのドラムもかっこいい。ヤン・ハマーのシンセ、シンベもほんとかっこいいよ。

中学の時に友人にこれを貸してもらって、ホントぶっ飛んだ。すぐにブロウ・バイ・ブロウを買いに行ったっけ。

さてさて、次はどこにいっちゃうんでしょうね。ヤン・ハマーとテリー・ボジオでやって欲しいな。ベースはスタンリー・クラーク以外で。（笑）

非の打ちようがない文句なし完璧な名盤です。
ベックのプレイも生々しさが伝わってきて、インプロヴィゼイションも冴えます。
たまにテーマに戻れなかったりする愛嬌も見せながら（笑）

Keyのヤン・ハマーが凄い！！キレキレです！
リズム隊も切れ味のいい刃物のように切り込んできます。
スゴウデのバックメンバーに背中を押されたジェフのやりたい放題が聴ける、
今なお色褪せぬ名盤中の名盤。

やっぱりジェフ･ベックというギタリストは天才、
あるいは宇宙人か？
