Youtube のライブ映像見て衝動買いでこのDVD付きを買いました。が、しかし、中身はアイドル風のPVで、ポンタさんの叩いている姿も拝めず、小林女史のかわいらしい映像をCDと同じ音で見せつけられるのみです。レコード会社の思惑なのかも知れませんが、本物なら拒否するくらいの姿勢を見せて欲しいところです。
CD自体は、バックの豪華なミュージシャンとアレンジで聴きやすいです。インスト音楽の初級編としては良いかも?

1曲めのKira Kiraがまず良い。実にキャッチーな曲だ。彼女のソロでは気持ち良さそうに吹きまくっており、バックのサウンドも良好。でも、フェイドアウトはなかったんじゃないかな。彼女のせいではないのだが。
　全体的には、ファーストアルバムSolarの路線継続で、古い言い方をすればソフト＆メロー、ライト・フュージョンだ。もちろん、彼女自身パワーアップしているし、バッキングも上手い。セールス的にはこれが正解なのかもしれないし、確かに快適に聴けるのも事実。しかし、ライブを視聴していると、彼女は本当はもう少しタイトに、イキのいい曲をビシっとキメたいのではないかと思ってしまう。ま、状況に応じて演奏スタイルを変えられるのは良いことではありますが。ジャズクラブに行けばスタンダードの演奏を求められたりしますし。
　ジャケットについて。確かに彼女は美人なのだが、それでもSolarのあのジャケットでの服装は、これはないんじゃないのという感が強かった。某クラシック系イージーリスニングのヴァイオリニストじゃないんだし。でも、あの写真のおかげで売れたのであればあまり批判もできないかなと。今回のジャケットはかなり良くなって、こちらの方が実際のイメージに近いのではないだろうか。個人的には、月刊ステレオ誌のJBLスピーカーの記事に載っていた写真が一番気に入っていて、ああいう写真を使えばもっと売れるのではないかと思う。私は、実は、あの記事を読んでSolarを買いました。次回は、Basiaの曲のカバーをしてくださらないかなと期待。

最初の一曲を聴いてデヴィット・サンボーン風だな。と思ったけれど、２曲目のエナジーでは、こなれているというか、ベテランのサックス・プレーヤーが吹くような大人の哀愁を感じさせるフレーズを吹くのでビックリ。「我こそはコアなジャズ・ファン」を自認する人たちは、日本人のジャズ、しかもオンナのテナー・サックスなんて、まるでシンディー・ダルファーみたいじゃないか。とバカにしそうだが、とんでもない。若いのに多彩な吹き方できるサックス吹きだ。日本人だ。オンナだ。アイドルみたいだ。なんて否定的な事を言う前にまず、聴いて欲しい。聴く人をハッピーにする曲と演奏。こんなジャズもいい。私見をいえば、ラテンやビックバンドで楽しいジャズを吹くのが似合っている。もちろんカルロス菅野、笹路正徳、村上秀一などの「手練れ」のバック陣に助けられている面もある。単なる美人アイドル・サックス吹きとバカにすると、しっぺがえしを食いますよ。今後が楽しみです。（松本敏之）
