上手いヴォーカリストが複数のギタリストとのブルースアルバムは過去にも何作かありましたが、あまり善いモノはありませんでした。しかしこれは素晴らしい名盤です。ポールロジャースのブルースへの深い愛情を、そして参加ギタリストのブルースとポールロジャースへの愛情とリスペクトを感じ、本物のトリビュートアルバムだと思います。トリビュート、カヴァー好きで、色んなアルバムを持ってますが一番良いと思います。十代の頃購入し、当時は渋い内容や自分自身の音楽の造詣の浅さゆえ愛聴盤ではありませんでしたが年齢も重ね少しは造詣も重ねた今、その良さも染みてきています。リラックスして聴けますが、『SHE'S ALRIGHT』『THE HUNTER』などポールロジャースの熱い歌唱にエキサイトもします。夜中や休日ののほほんとした昼間にはまります。

ブルース・セッションアルバム。オリジナル曲は１曲のみだが、ジェフ・ベック、ニール・ショーン、ゲイリー・ムーア、ブライアン・メイ、リッチー・サンボラ、スラッシュ、バディ・ガイ、ディブ・ギルモア等きら星の如きゲスト・ギタリスト達をバックに、ポールが気持ち良さそうに歌っていて、最高に渋く、ひたれる。特にタイトル曲の「マディ・ウォーター・ブルース」ははまる。渋くて格好よくて、ぞくぞくする。買ってよかったと思える１枚だと思う。

マディーのブルースがロックに変貌する劇的瞬間!!

とにかくバンドが上手い。ロック・バンドつくればツェッペリンに匹敵するバンドができるだろう。
ギタリストはツワモノ揃い!!!

演奏のノリも抜群でレア・ライヴ感たっぷりの名盤。
