今更何を言う事もない、ロック史上の傑作である。

「アビイ・ロード」をチャートから引きずり降ろした事で有名なアルバムだが、ビートルズが拡大しきったロック・ミュージックにおいて、まだ創造すべき物がある事を示したディスクでもある。
そして、アートワークを含めて、ロック･ミュージックが芸術と成り得る事を証明した作品でもある。

オリジナル・マスターを使用したこのディスクでは、まず音質改善の素晴しさに驚愕した!!!
スティックが触るタッチの違いまで聴こえてくるシンバル、マクドナルドのブレスまで聞こえニュアンス豊かに響き渡るウィンズ。

レンジが広くなり分離が良くなった事で、もやもやしたものが一切ない眼前に迫ってくる音像となっている。しかしデジタル的なピリピリしたものではなく暖かみがある。

久し振りに良い音でこの作品が聴けた。まさに30年前にLPで聴いた生々しさ、いや実際はそれ以上だろう。 凡百の新譜より遥かに素晴しい感動を体験できた。

30数年経てこれほどの物を聴けるとは･･･！オリジナル・マスター恐るべし!!!。

もう25年以上も前のことになる。当時高校生の頃、周りがツェッペリンだディープパープルだと盛り上がっていたときに一人の友人がこのアルバムを私に貸してくれた。
「二十一世紀の精神異常者」の衝撃は今でも忘れられない。こんな音楽があったのか。しかもビートルズがまだ現役だった時代に。そして「クリムゾン・キングの宮殿」を聴いて戦慄がはしった。音楽を聴いて鳥肌が立った初めての経験だった。それからというものクリムゾンのアルバムを片っ端から聴いていったが、正直言ってこのアルバムを超えるものには出会えなかった気がする｡それくらい凄いデビューアルバムなのだ。
若い人たちにも是非聴いて頂きたいプログレの最高峰アルバムである。

有名無名に関わらず多くの先人の方から語り継がれてる今さら説明不要な名盤。個人的には洋楽はビートルズから聴き始めて雑誌等でプログレなる言葉を知り本格的にそのジャンルで初めて聴いたのが本作だった。不気味なSEからいきなりのハードなイントロとエフェクトがかかったVoの(1)に衝撃を受けた。当時('89)自分はヘヴィメタルも経験してはいたが、やはり(1)には驚かされた。一転し静寂の(2)、叙情と悲嘆の(3)、幽玄と耽美の(4)、そして神々しささえ感ずる荘厳な(5)と一部の隙もない構成に、ただただ圧倒されていた。様々な音楽的な要素が無理なく集約されていてしかも強烈な個性として確立している。何をもってプログレと呼ぶかは様々な議論があると思うが(古い時代の特定の作品群を先駆的、革新的という言葉でジャンル分けする矛盾等)、少なくともこの作品はロックの転換期の歴史的意義という重要性もありながら、プログレというジャンルを訪れる時は避けては通れない作品だろう。これからも新たに聴いた人達に衝撃を与え続けるのだろうから…
