SUMMER GODDESSは爆音ジャズなんて呼ばれていますね。
とてもかっこいいし、シングルが出たとき興奮しました。

以前、日曜日のBBC RADIO1、Gilles PtersonのWORLDWIDEが
このアルバムの９曲目で始まったことがありました。
そのときは番組のテーマ曲なのかと思い、探しまわりました。

ライブ型ジャズであって、しっかり聴かせられる。
日本のジャズは欧州ジャズにアプローチしながらも
独自の解釈とアティチュードを確実にもっているんだなとあらためて驚かされました。

個人的な意見ですが、アルバム前作のPIMP MASTERが傑作なだけに、少し物足りない感じはしました。Summer Goddessはいい曲です。題字通り、夏に聴くとかなりいいです。12曲目のLast Longもいいですね。ライブで盛り上がりそうなクラップハンドの曲です。その他の曲も、一つ一つの完成度は高いんですが、ひとつのアルバムとして見れば、まとまり感が薄い気がします。でも買いです。何故ならSOILのアルバムだから。
このバンドは何かしらの発見が曲の中にありますよね。ヘビーローテーションなアルバムではないかもしてませんが、長く聴けるアルバムだと思います。あと、限定版には14曲目のボーナストラックがはいってますので、できれば手に入れたいですよね。

普段ジャズと言えばBILL EVANS TRIO しか聞かなかったのですが
こんなノリの良いものも面白いです。
全曲踊れる位ノリが良いです。

まぁ、BILL EVANS TRIOと比べると繊細さや今にも壊れそうなほどの美しさと言ったモノは無いですが
ガツガツ攻め上がっていくような勢いがあって聞いていてとても楽しいです。

２曲目のSUMMER GODDESSが個人的にオススメです。
