ノーカット版は、２部構成になっていて、とても長いです。でも、観終わった後の満足感というか、充足感というか、もう・・・感動です。
ノーカット版の後、劇場版も観ましたが、これは単なるダイジェストとか、ハイライトに過ぎないと感じました。大事な部分を切り取りすぎていて、映画館で見た人は、はっきりいっておもしろくなかったかもしれない。（数回観るうちに、ノーカット版でさえダイジェストに思えるほどです。）
オリビア・ハッセーの「ロミオとジュリエット」も愛らしくてステキだったけど、マザー・テレサ役はまたすごい。この役を演じるために生まれてきたんじゃないかと思いました。
私はクリスチャンではないけど、マザーテレサが「私はキリストが持つ小さな鉛筆だ」と言って、神が望んだ「貧しい人と共に生きる」ことに全身全霊を捧げたことに深い感銘を受けました。マザーの愛の深さを演じきったオリビアさんはほんとに素晴らしい・・・！

　主演のオリビア・ハッセーが、確か２０年も前からこの映画の製作を願い、ついに実現した映画です。その２０年の間に、彼女は、マザー・テレサの沢山の映像を見、そして彼女が書いた本などを読んだことでしょう。その結晶が、見事に表れた演技となっております。それは、表情や指先の動き、そして、年老いた時の腰を曲げて歩く姿にも見事に表れています。

　マザー・テレサの働きについては、多少は本などを読んで知っていましたが、カルカッタの貧民街でのその「死を待つ人の家」の活動を始めるにあたり、どのような経緯があったのか、そして、その後の活動においても、人々の様々な思惑によって、試練が生じてきますが、まさに「鋼の精神」をもって、「神様の御心」に従い通したその生涯が、迫力を持って描かれています。

　映画では、カットされた分の映像が含まれているこちらのスペシャルＢＯＸをお薦めします。まだ見てはいませんが、きっと、満足することだろうと思います。(^^)

オリビア・ハッセー会心の作。
マザー・テレサの数々あるエピソードの中から皆さんに伝えたい映像をピックアップ。
キリスト教やカトリックの教えを知らない方にも、神のメッセージが理解できる。
人類愛をつかむ作品。
舞台のインドは、これからの日本にとって産業・文化・人的交流などで重要となり、理解の一助となろう。
