ジャズファンなら、このジャケットを見ただけで嬉しくなる人も多いと思う。このアルバムはそれくらい有名盤になってしまった。
ではなぜこのアルバムがそんなに人気があるかということだが、それにはいくつかの要因がある。メリハリの利いたピュアな録音、気持ちいいスイング感、歌心溢れるメロディーライン、明るくリラックスした雰囲気など、ある意味、ピアノトリオの最も理想的な姿がここにある。

最近ニューヨークトリオのファンだという女性にこのアルバムを聴かせた。彼女曰く、「あー、いいなぁ、この人のピアノ、ビル・チャーラップに似てるー！」とうっとりした表情を浮かべた。You are right!
名盤は名盤でも歴史的傑作とかいうものではないが、愛さずにはいられないアルバムなのだ。

『飛行機ジャケに悪いものなし』とはよく言ったものです。アナログにアホみたいな高い値段ついてるのはどうかと思いますが(単純に希少価値のみですね)、スタンダードという、ある意味料理人の腕が試される素材を、丁寧に味わい深く仕上げた、口あたりの良い、上質の逸品である事は確かです。美味しいってわかってるものを、素直に『美味しい』とだけ言わせるのって、一番難しい事だと思うのです。四の五の言わずに、この音に浸れるシアワセを感じてしまいます。ジャケは飾りましょう。裏ジャケには、KLMの社長(当時)のあいさつ付き。律儀な会社。
