この舞台は、今から20年以上も前のものだというのに、全く「古くさい」なんて言えないほど面白いっ!!!今現在のABTも良いけれど、バリシニコフ時代のABTは活気があって、ダンサーが皆生き生きとしている。シンシア・ハーヴェイのキトリが登場し拍手喝さいかと思いきや、その直後にバリシニコフのバジルが登場し、会場から割れんばかりの大歓声!!そのシーンだけ見ても、自分も観衆に混じって拍手を送りたくなるような雰囲気。ストーリーの展開が速く簡潔なので、初めてバレエを見る人にもわかりやすい。しかも思わず笑い出してしまうシーンもあり、理屈ぬきで楽しめる。何度でも繰り返して見たくなるような舞台で、絶対オススメッ!!!

83年の舞台ですが、映像は綺麗ですし、バリシニコフ(バジル)とシンシア・ハーヴェイ(キトリ)の人気が炸裂、パートナーシップも素晴らしいです。

バリシニコフ版のドン・キホーテは、男性ダンサーのヴァリエーションが多くとにかくテンポが速い。
お馴染みの踊り子のヴァリエーションやジプシーダンス等…定番の踊りでも無駄と思われるものは、容赦なくカットしています。
しかし、ジプシーの野営地の後に居酒屋がくるパターンでストーリー的にも一貫性がある演出です。

2幕の居酒屋でのバジルとエスパーダの踊りと演技は絶妙です。
エスパーダはパトリック・ビッセルです。長身ですし踊りも魅力的で素晴らしかったので、ちょっと感慨深いです…。

3幕のパドドゥはABT伝統の白と金の衣裳で、さすがに二人の踊りは貫禄あって感動的です。
とにかくその直後にバジルとキトリのヴァリエーションが続き、コーダとフィナーレが一体化していて観ている者を飽きさせない見事な演出です。
締めのバリシニコフの回転技の連続は圧巻です。

(回転しすぎで、さすがのバリシニコフもふらついていますが…)

因みにメルセデス(森の女王)はスーザン・ジャフィが踊っています。

バリシニコフの存在感が素晴らしい。客席からどよめきが起るほどのジャンプの高さや，正確なピルエット等技術もさることながら，その表情の豊かさには皆さんバジルを好きにならずを得ないでしょう。エスパーダも色男ぶりを存分に発揮し，舞台全体の盛り上がりも良く出来ています。ストーリーも解りやすく，振り付けも比較的見易いので，ドンキを踊る予定のある方にはお勧めします。少し前の録画にもかかわらず音楽もきれいですよ。
