「HOURGLASS」の大人なトーンを引き継ぎながらも、
さらにシンプルに、洗練されたアルバムです。

生バンド編成で、録音も飾り気が無く、
現場の音をそのまま、ストレートに収録したという印象を受けました。
ラフという意味ではなく、生の空気感を大切にしているという意味です。
加えて緩やかな曲が多いので、本人の歌声はもちろん、
ドラムの一音から揺れるギターの残響まで、
アンサンブル全体をじっくり味わえ、とても心地がいいのです。

ちなみに個人的には、＃6「波」という曲が気に入りました。
ピアノとストリングスとウィンド系と、少ない楽器で奏でられる楽曲ですが、
空間を、とても柔らかく優しい音響で、包み込むように埋め尽くしてくれます。
おまけに詩が、言葉少なく抽象的なのに、とてもドラマチック。

何度聴いても味わえる、素敵なアルバムです。

発売当初は、HOURGLASSの感じを引き継いでいたのは良かったけど、ちょっと地味かな・・・。なんて高校生の僕は思っていました。しかし、最近になって改めて聴いてみると、自分の愚かさに気付きました。本当に深い曲ばかりでした。それはサウンド的に手が込んでるとか、そういう事でなく（実際そういう知識的な事わかりませんし　笑）、あんなにシンプルな言葉達が心に深く染み込んできます。これって曲が深いってことなんじゃないかなって。なんというか、曲と詞がちゃんと合体しているというか、本当にFAYRAYは才能があるな、って。多分、万人受けするアルバムではないと思いますが、聴く価値が十分にあるアルバムだと思います。

部屋でこのアルバムを流すと、部屋の空気というか雰囲気が一変します。ちょっと外国にいるような気分なったり、それが中世のヨーロッパだったり、アジアの方だったりするわけですが不思議な不思議な気分になります。幼い頃の事や、生まれ変わり以前の記憶が蘇るような妙な懐かしさもあります。特に「光と影」は見事な曲です。ＴＢＳ系『世界遺産』のＢＧＭに流れてもおかしくないほどの格調高さを持っています。Fayrayには売れる売れないかかわらずこの路線を保持してもらえたら日本のミュージックシーンにとっても面白い事ではないだろうか。
　あと、ラストの曲、聴き応えがありますよ。美空ひばりさんのカバーです。
