5.0 out of 5 stars 若き日のストコフスキーによる名演, 2009/4/15
若き日といっても27年にはすでに45歳なわけですが、95歳まで現役続けるような怪物にとっては普通の人の20代といってもいいぐらい。演奏もやはり若々しさにあふれています。フィラデルフィア時代のストコフスキーはSPの制約関係上か、少々速めのテンポを設定することも多いのですが、このCDに収められている演奏も若干そういう部分はありつつも、十分彼の意図を表現した演奏になっていると思います。彼の最初の「運命」となった録音はかなり物々しく、芝居がかった崩しに、大見栄等々、大変濃い演奏となっています。他にも「星条旗よ永遠なれ」や有名な「トッカータとフーガ」をはじめ楽しい曲満載。ブラ4は晩年の猛々しい演奏に比べると少々ノーブル。フランクの交響曲も後年の深い美しさに比べるとやはり大人しい。
