昨年に発売されたアルバム『転生』収録曲のシングルカットです。
命のリレーのバージョンが、アルバム収録とは異なりますが、このバージョンもとても良かったです。
『転生』バージョンのほうは、強く逞しい歌い方でしたが、この夜会ライブバージョンは、優しさが滲み出ている柔らかい歌い方で、違った魅力があると思います。
歌詞の朗読→アカペラでの熱唱→本編突入という流れに、とても感動しました。
夜会ＤＶＤ、『転生』、今回のシングルと、様々なバージョンがありますが、
同じ曲でここまで違う魅力を醸し出せるのが凄いと思いました。

このところシングルは逞しくて大きな世界を描いてる印象がありましたが、
今回は久しぶりにしんみりと切なく、哀愁感たっぷりな世界に仕上がってると思います。
バックのバイオリンやエレキギターの音がいい感じに増幅してくれてます。

カップリングはライブバージョンですが、
アルバムより素直なボーカルで、実際に彼女が夜会でどんな熱唱をしているのかを知るには、とてもいいテイクじゃないでしょうか。

ここ十年近く衝撃的な歌を発表し続けたみゆきさんですが、この「帰れない者たちへ」が主題歌になると聞いて驚きました。いつもの流れでは、リズム感のある曲が選ばれていたからです。
ただ松本清張の、けものみちの主題歌だと知って納得。

四十数年前、リンゴ箱に肘をついて松本清張の本を読んでいた私は、次から次へと展開してゆく話にのめり込み電球(今で言う部屋の電気)を付けるのも忘れ読んだものです。(ホルマリン漬けの遺体やグロテスクな事件モノの多い中身でした。)

今回の「けものみち」も近年のドラマでは見られないような残酷さが、これまた新鮮。人間の性根を抉り出してみせる。みゆきさんの世界とよく似ています。

昭和を代表する小説家のドラマ主題歌にみゆきさんが選ばれるのは、両方とも見てきた私にとって感動モノです。良い出会いですよね・・。

みゆきさんが最初に「発表した時」の意味と「松本清張が描く」帰れない者というのは別ですが、ここがとても面白い。

リズムに引っ張られず、噛み締めつつ解釈の多様性もキープ。
短い歌詞、安定したテンポで、どこまでも聴かす業はみゆきさん独自。

ライブ版の命のリレーはアルバムより歌詞は少ないものの、伝える部分を集中しているので、また別の味わい。

夜空の星が輝いている中で、流れ星がながれ消えてゆくような雰囲気が私には感じられました。

*このCDには関係ありませんが、みゆきさんは2005年のコンサートの完成度の素晴らしさから、芸術選奨 大衆芸能部門で、ポピュラー界で初の文部科学大臣賞を受賞しました。
