ザクザク切れ味がありつつも強烈にメロディアスなリフ、重低音の中に散りばめられた鳥肌が立つようなメロディ、バイクで早朝の風を切るような疾走感、死への畏れや混沌に対する人間の無力感を如実に表現する悲哀に満ちた歌声。これのどこに足りないものがあるでしょう。最高傑作です。私的にはね。

前々作の賛否や前作のやっぱり賛否(ただしどちらも超良作)に比較すれば今作の出来はさすがとしかいいようなしの超絶完成度を誇っている。このバンドは作品事にワンステップもツーステップも飛び越える飛躍センスを持ち合わせているが、一曲目からの重圧なスピードナンバーからデジタルモダナイズで始まる二曲目、女性ヴォーカルからアンダース・フリーデンの絶叫ヴォイスに以降する曲等、さすが楽曲の幅も広しでそれでいて飽きさせないフックも素晴らしいまでに絶妙に配置されていて世界的に絶賛されても文句なしのインフレイムス流儀がここにある!!

自分はIN FLAMESを聴いたのはこのアルバムが初めてなのですがオープニングの「Take This Life」でしょっぱな打ちのめされました。このアルバムは正にこのバンドのパワーが詰まった作品であると思えます。ヘヴィさと叙情性が絶妙にブレンドされており多くのメタルファンに薦められる一枚です。
また、ジャケットもイラストの残虐さと白に統一された神秘的な背景の対比がこのバンドの二面性を表しています。
