弁護士ビリーがジプシーの老婆を轢き殺してしまう。ジプシーに呪いをかけられ、食べても食べても異常な速度で痩せていく。この主人公が「ダイエットに失敗した弁護士」って言うのが皮肉。太れないことにプレッシャーを感じるまでになる。ビリーの事故のもみ消しに関わった人間達も、ジプシーたちの彼らへの強い怒りで、体に変調をきたすこととなる。理路整然としたストーリー。
ビリーの「痩せゆくメイク」は不自然さがなく見事。異常な速度で痩せていく恐怖が極自然に伝わってくる。

今後、事態はどうなるか？オチも見事で文句なし！！

1996年作品、現在確認できるだけでも50作ほど映像化されているｽﾃｨｰｳﾞﾝ･ｷﾝｸﾞ作品中でもっとも良く出来た娯楽ｽﾘﾗｰだとおもう、原題"Thinner"に「痩せゆく男」と邦題したのはまことに秀逸、味気ないｶﾀｶﾅ題の洋画ばかりになりつつある現在、実に言い得て妙な邦題です、未見のｽﾘﾗｰ好きの映画ﾌｧﾝにはぜったいの自信をもって推薦できる映画、

当然のように2時間超の娯楽映画が氾濫する現在、92分（およそ1時間半）というﾌｫｰﾏｯﾄが娯楽映画としてどれほど威力があるか、についても見なおすことになるでしょう、

現在のﾊﾘｳｯﾄﾞ映画で、例えば主人公が街を歩くｼｰﾝ、主人公の廻りの通行人たちは全員がｴｷｽﾄﾗ、そしてｴｷｽﾄﾗ選択の際には巧妙に見苦しい肥満体型は避けられているのが現実です、かの地を訪れた人には
納得の事実です、これもﾊﾘｳｯﾄﾞによる一種のｲﾒｰｼﾞ操作ということになるでしょう、

どうしてｷﾝｸﾞは「Fatter 肥りゆく男」ではなく痩せることの恐怖をﾃｰﾏにしたのかについてはおそらく日本人以上にｱﾒﾘｶ人当人たちのほうが恐ろしさを感じているはずです、せりふとして語られてもいるように肥る事ｲｺｰﾙ自分自身の存在主張という側面は否定できないわけで、また当地においては低所得層ほど肥満に悩むというおかしな事実は社会問題化している側面も忘れてはいけないでしょう、

登場するｼﾞﾌﾟｼｰたちには一人も肥満体がいないという分かりやすい演出、見苦しいを通り越したあまりにもおぞましい主人公の飲食風景に娘が泣き出してしまうｼｰﾝがもっとも恐ろしいとおもいました、ｷﾝｸﾞ本人がｾﾘﾌのある役で登場しています、運転中のﾒｲｸﾗｳﾞは避けましょう、

ある意味、大人の道徳本みたいな内容だと思います。
ジプシーは別として、どの登場人物もふつうの人間で
同じような所為、考え、に同感したり、こんな人いるよね…な
キャラだけに、自分だったら?と思うとキングのホラーの世界。
おぞましいメイクや形相より内面的に恐い作品。
本当は嫌な役どころのジネリが妙に生き生きして見える…
人間のおぞましい姿にみえて目が離せなかったです。
どちらの娘も可愛そうだし。奥さんも。。。
