もはや助っ人業やサイドプロジェクトばかりの人になってしまったかと思われた元ジェリーフィッシュの天才職人、ロジャー・Ｊ・マニング　Ｊｒ.の初ソロアルバムです。Weedshare.comなる音楽ダウンロード・サイトで既に配信されていたものですが、やはりファンはジャケット、歌詞カード付きで揃えたいもの。元々引き出しも豊富で一つのジャンルでは括れないミュージシャンでしたが、強いて言えば彼にインペリアル・ドラッグではなくジェリーフィッシュを求めた方には必携です。本編ラストではかの盟友を想い涙腺が緩みます。４枚組みＣＤだけでクラゲの夢は終わらない。

21世紀の最新の音楽でMELODY重視の楽曲って少なくありませんか?他…過去の1960-80年代BEATLES/BEACH BOYS/XTC/TODD RUNDGREN他…POPS名盤ひっぱり出して昔は良かった等と天を仰いで「何でこんな時代になったんだよ!!」と嘆いておられませんか?でも大丈夫、ロジャー・ジョセフ・マニング・Jr.の今回のAlbum11曲はそんな貴方には「待ってました」の儒玉の名曲が揃った涙のALBUMになるやもしれません。…ジェリーフィッシュで既に証明済みのPOPの職人が4年の歳月をSTUDIOにこもり時間と想像力と夢を費やして出来上がったALBUMは眩いばかりにキラキラ輝いていたり致します。素晴らしいメロディの素材をはじめ、コーラスを制するモノPOPを制するではございませんが、ALBUM1枚に重厚なコーラスの調味料が施されプラス+豪華絢爛な編曲というソースがタップリかけられていたりするんですから一流のPOP ALBUMに違いありませんね。+10曲目が中村一義に聴こえるのは私だけ?

ブライアン・ウィルソンの域に近付いたかのようなソングライティングが縦横に走りまくる、元ジェリーフィッシュ、ロジャー・ジョセフ・マニング・Ｊｒ．の初ソロアルバム。
そうか、言われてみれば初なのか、などという感想も持たれたりしますが、それだけこの人が、ジェリーフィッシュ解散後も充実した仕事をこなしているとも言えるのでしょう。
思えば、たった２枚のアルバムを残して解散してしまったジェリーフィッシュですが、つまりその２作で、あっという間にバンドとしての臨界点に達してしまったのでしょう。
音楽的にも行き着くトコに行き着いたというか、恐るべき完成度を誇る２ｎｄは超お薦めアルバム。
で。
稀代のメロディ職人の引出しが満を持して開放され、ジェリーフィッシュの新作か？と思わせる（多分）楽曲は勿論、まるでビーチ・ボーイズや、ブライトなミュージカルのような開放感、一緒に歌わずにはいられない（かも）ポップソングまで満載。
聴く度に新たな発見がある、みたいな高密度ポップ・アルバム。
お薦め。
