たとえば後期ビートルズのような、ねじくれた雰囲気とでも言えばいいのだろうか。しかし、そのねじくれた感覚が中心になっているのかと思いきや、拍子抜けするほど素直で美しいメロディがひょいと顔を出してきたりして、まったく一筋縄ではいかない。おそらく彼女のなかで、何かいろいろな要素が押し合いへし合いしながらせめぎあって同居しているのだろう。その説明不能な感受性に魅せられたのが、たとえばクラムボンの伊藤大助だったりする平絵里香という人の本作は、早耳のミュージシャンにとって聴き逃すわけにはいかないのだ。おおはた雄一や河野丈洋(GOING UNDER GROUND)、田中秀基(YKZ)といった実力派がプロデュースを手がけており、彼女の本来持っているごちゃ混ぜな音楽性をより活き活きとした歌へと仕上げている。自由奔放な歌声から繰り出されるその世界観は、さまざまな場所の風景を現出させつつ内省的な雰囲気もあり、とにかくすべてが剥き出しの魅力にあふれている。 (高橋宏文) --- 2006年02月号
