このアルバムの評価はいいんでしょうか？悪いんでしょうか？
今作の「良さ」が解らない人は、メロディーがないとダメな人なんだろうと思います。
「音」はファースト、セカンドと比べ、悪くなっているとは絶対思えません。むしろドラムが太く重くなっており、ドラム、ベースの技術もかなりの進化をしていると思えます。そしてキーボード、セッションと新しい要素も加わっていて、曲の幅が広がっています。ギターは相変わらず変でおもしろいです。ボーカルはもう好き好きですけど。
確かにこのアルバムは、今までにあったような「やかましい」「ノれる」曲はRIFFMANくらいなので、そっち好きの人はダメかもしれません。
が、だが、しかし、ウォーターフロントやトンボゲーム、〜ハートなんかでも十分「ノれる」んです。「静の中にある何か燃えるもの」とでも言うのか、このギャーギャー叫ぶよりもうるさい感じっつーか、手数多いドラムよりもガンガンくるドラムっつーか。。昼間より夜中の方がテンション上がる！みたいな？そんな感じです。
それにファースト、セカンドよりすごくメロがいいと思います。ボーカルが歌ってなくてもメロはメロなんじゃないのか？
要はギターソロに歌詞つけて歌えばとってもメロディックなんじゃないでしょうか？んー？違うかも。何かよく解らなくなっちゃった。。
まーでもアルバムに付いてくる写真はダッサいですよねー

個人的な好みだけで言えば、なかなか好きなアルバム。
前作２は音の破壊性や情念を無尽蔵に吐き出した衝動的な作品でしたが、
どこかとっちらかってる感が否めなかった。
その点、今作３は「夜」というコンセプトを据えた事もあり、大分すっ
きりとしたスタイリッシュさが感じられるものになっていると思う。
ただそれは、曲の色合いが似ている、メロディが主体ではない、全体的
に無機質など聴く人によっては感じ方のベクトルが逆向くだろう部分でも
あるとは思いますが。

今作で一番印象に残ったのは、柔道二段こと松下氏の叩くタイトで
グルーヴィーなドラム。
氏の加入は本当に大きい。メンバーの音をより鋭く尖らせ、夜の情景を
楽曲に展開させているのは松下氏のプレイによるものだと感じる。
メンバーのパート一つ一つがしっかりと独立したスマートな音を鳴らしており
そのどれもが味わい深い。
「鳴り散らす」から「味わう」バンドに変わったといった感じ。

前作までの攻撃的な楽曲を求めている方にはあまりおすすめしませんが、
バンドアンサンブルの緊張感を味わうのが好きな方には手にとってもらいたい。
私そうかな？って方には是非。スピーカーから流れる一音一音と「対峙」し
てみてください。痺れます。

収録されている曲はポストパンク的、ややプログレ的で特に新しいとは思えないが、ほどよいシンセがいい感じだ。
それにしても、このアルバム、音がいい!日本でもこんなサウンドプロダクションが可能なんだと感心する一枚だ。特にドラムは生々しいというか、生だ。
松下敦も個人的にはアヒトイナザワより好きかもしれない。無感情的なことを書かれているが、そうは感じなかった。パワフルでいいドラマーだ。

…なんか、いいドラマーに出会える向井秀徳はバンドマンじゃなくてもうらやましいな。
