ホンダがフィットの成功で足がかりをつけたが、なかなか剛性面でクリヤ出来る値が得られなかった為、フィットよりもかなり遅れてこのエアウェイブがデビューした。
実車に関してはイマイチ「ホンダでなければ得られない」ことが見られないので、ホンダファンはおろか、そうでない人々にもあまりウケていないようである。大型サンルーフ以外に見どころが無いからかもしれない。
閑話休題、このトミカではエアウェイブのサンルーフ装着車を再現してある。
最近のトミカに漏れず、ハッチバックも開閉するのだが、やはりこのクルマの魅力であるサンルーフに注目して欲しい。中を覗くと開放感があってルーミーで、まるで自分がこのクルマに乗っているかのような錯覚を受ける。これは、インテリアのパ−ツが明るい白で成型してあるからかもしれない。
いずれにしろ、一台持っていても損は無いだろうと思う。
