ポストパンクの歴史的大名盤が再々々度復活するようですね。これで３度目のリイシュ−ですかね。RIP RIG&PANICの３枚のアルバムは未だにCD化されていないし、このアルバムも版権の関係で廃盤、ということでしたので状況的にはかなり厳しいのでは、と思っていただけに本当に嬉しいです。このアルバムが出たとき、私はまだロ−ティ−ンのガキんちょでしたが、「ポップグル−プの２NDが大変なことになっている」という噂はあっという間に広がり私の耳にも入ってきました。しかしながら当時のイギリスからの輸入盤はとても高く（１枚4000円ぐらいまではねたこともある。）、またこれぞ、といった盤はすぐ店頭から消えてしまうので私のようなガキんちょはききたくてもなかなか聞くことができず、徳間ジャパンが割と早めに日本盤を出してくれたおかげでようやく聞けたのでした。今、聞いてもやはりすごいです。頭より感性、遠心力ですっとばしてるような演奏ですがそれが音楽的音楽として全く無理なく自然に成立してしまうところが本当にすばらしい。例えば、GANG OF FOURやTALKING HEADSやFRICTIONといった人たちもそれぞれすばらしいア−ティストだし、すごいアルバムを出しているのですが、このTHE POP GROUPの２NDはさらにその１つ上をいっているのです。それにしても、最後の最後によくぞやってくれました。持ってる持ってない関係なく今年のリイシュ−BEST1はこのアルバムで決まりです。但し、「BLIND FAITH」は絶対けずってはいけません。アナログ時代のA面のハイライトの曲なんですからね、あれは。

80年代に徳間から、その後TDKでCD化、さらにワーナーからのガッカリさせられた編集CDに続いて、漸くリマスター＆新聞紙付きでのCD化。輸入盤LPを購入し耳にしてから20数年。決定版CDの登場。ボートラも必殺シングル・ナンバーの収録と嬉しい限り。忘れかけていた血が騒ぎます。1月21日発売から少し延期されたようですが、必ずリリースして欲しいです。
