日本中がテクノブームの中、シンセがピコピコ鳴ってればみんなテクノバンドとして売り出されてしまったが、P-MODELはテクノバンドなんかじゃない。このアルバムをだしたデビュー当時に観たが、過激な歌詞とサウンドは圧倒的！殺気を感じるぐらいのライブバンドである。ですのでこのスタジオアルバムは実際の彼らのパフォーマンスより抑え気味ですが、ランドセルよりは当時の彼ららしいと思います。

まず、何と言っても演奏の凄さ。歌謡曲が主流の時代においてあのピコピコサウンドは衝撃を与えました。当時は今のようなCG音楽ではないため、最近のP-MODELで慣れ親しんでいる方にもぃ新たな発見が出来るファーストアルバムだと思います。今ではポリシックスも尊敬してやまない彼らの音楽性は、ニューウェーブ旋風が収まってからも独自のスタイルで健在というのが魅力であり、その原点であるこれはオススメ。

YMOを先に聞いて、テクノポップだと誤認してしまった人は正直
ショックを受けます。P-MODELの独自の歌詞・歌い方・シンセの使い方
などはYMOとは180度異なるからです。所謂、テクノパンクと認識して
パンクでサイケな歌詞にピコピコサウンドがあるとして聴いてください。
１曲目「美術館で会った人だろ」は、そんな代表的な曲かも知れません。
