高校生時代ジャズにはまり始めたころに聞いたアルバムである。当時の日野は長髪にスリムな体、サングラスにジーンズとファッションリーダーでもあり、ニュースターとして若者の憧れの的であった。スネイク・ヒップというシングル盤がヒットし、ポピュラー・ファンにまで名が知れ渡っていた。マイルス・デイビスのエレクトリック・サウンドにいち早く呼応したのか、エレクトリック・ピアノを採用し、日野元彦のたたき出す8ビート・ドラムスともども、新鮮なパフォーマンスであった。当時の状況は、日本のジャズの第3期黄金時代の幕開けとでもいえそうな時代で、秋吉敏子、渡辺貞夫という先駆者をはじめ、ジョージ・大塚、菊池雅章、山下洋輔などが頭角を現し、単なるアメリカのコピーではない独自の道を模索しつつあった。日野の登場はなかでも、ニュー・ウエイブといえそうな衝撃力があり、これ以後日本を飛び出し、渡米して海外で活躍するミュージシャンが増えてくるのであった。ここには懐かしさと気恥ずかしさが交錯する日本のジャズの最後の青春時代の響きがある。

まずジャケット写真（内藤忠行氏撮影）にグッと惹きこまれる。テレビ番組『田宮二郎ショー』に出演していて、
のけぞる演奏スタイルに魅了されたものです。
<LIKE MILES>イントロで稲葉国光のエレキベースが、ぞくぞく感を盛りあげる。ヒノテルと村岡がテーマを吹く…
う〜ん、このカッコよさはなんなんだ。
<HI-NOLOGY>こんな和とも洋ともつかないメロディー、いままでのモダンジャズにありましたか？
ヒノテルがタンバリンに持ちかえて、またまたカッコよさを見せつける。
ボーナストラックの<白昼の襲撃-テーマ><スネイクヒップ>、これは黒沢年男の主演映画につけた曲ですが、
映画もカッコよかったが、ヒノテルにしか作曲できないアグレッシヴな逸品です。
当時26歳という みなぎる若さがつくったこの作品、ジャズファンならいちどは聴かなければならない傑作です。
