『IvoryII』から本作は12年が過ぎた。その間『PIECE OF MY WISH』『PRIDE』が生まれ、手あかがつくまで聞かされもした。フォーライフ・ワーナー・EMIと移籍もした。“Ivory”というタイトルに熱狂的なファン・コレクターにはたまらないかも知れない。しかし残念ながらかつての輝きはない…。

2004年の二枚組の『Ivory III』で充分ですよ。一年経っての“リマスタリング”もなにもないと思います。もとのCDも単なるベスト盤で、立派な和製歌謡ポップスの集大成です。ここまでくると、ほんと今井さんの前向きな音楽創造エネルギーは枯渇した、と痛感させられますね。過去の栄光にこだわり続けるのは、正直、もうやめて欲しいです。

これは断じて、かつての“Ivory”という輝きをもったタイトルを冠してはならない、ただのベスト盤の廉価再版にすぎない。これまでも、これからも、このひとは、ベスト・コンピレーション・タイアップ・定番曲ツアーの三点セット、いずれかのCD+DVD盤で売りに売って活動していくことだろう。現にこれまでも、20年間ブリッコして“爽やか・清楚・純情・ファッショナブル・奔放”女性、でやってきた。ただそれだけのことだ。なにしろ二枚組⇒3アイボリー⇒本作、だから。
