国内では非常に珍しいアラビアンポップスのコンピレーション。2004年、2005年にレバノン、エジプト、シリアなどで流行したヒット曲17曲が1枚のCDに収められている（収録時間：約72分）。
独特の旋律とハーモニーで、明るさと物悲しさが交錯する。いずれも実力十分な歌唱力で魅了する

2002年にエジプト旅行をした際に現地でのヒット曲はジャケットがレンガを片手にした親父の「アメリカ大嫌い」と誤爆で死亡した少年が天国から母親に向かって「泣かないで」と歌う切ない歌（双方ポップス）でした…
9.11以降、耳にしない日はない中東の不穏なニュースとそれに伴う漠然としたダークなイメージ、そういう政治問題とは別に今のアラブ庶民に何が好まれているのかを知る面白いＣＤ。アラブ各国のヒット曲ばかりですが、対訳を読めば全〜部ラブソング。しかしＲ&Ｂ風から遠い文明を思わせるような曲まで洋々です。解説・歌手紹介がまた笑わせてくれる。買って良かった一枚♪

時々行くエスニックの洋服＆雑貨店でかかっているワールドミュージックつまり中東方面の音楽が以前から気になっていて、よくわからないながらも、ついにこれを購入しました。
別にベリーダンスを踊りたかったわけではないのですが・・・（笑）
ここには、大衆的によく聞かれているアラビアン・ポップとしてほぼ最新の物が集められているようですね。特にエジプトやレバノンを中心として活躍している女性歌手が多くフィーチャーされており、人気のトレンドの一端を知ることができるようです。

独特の旋律とダンサブルで現代的なリズムとの融合がなかなか気持ちよく聞けます。何といっても個人的には、特に特有のこぶしに凄くはまってしまいますね。
アラブ音楽独特の旋律と楽器の音色、更にコーラスも加われば気分は否が応でも高まります。

所々センチメンタル過ぎるというかメロドラマのテーマ曲のようなメロディーがやや不満でしたが、やはりあのこぶし回しや旋律、そして独特の楽器の音色が魅力的。
男性の哀愁を帯びたヴォーカルもなかなか良いのですが、これが女性の場合、哀愁を帯びつつも、時にはけっこう官能的で、かぐわしい香の香りに誘われるような感じ。男性ならずともちょっとウットリとなります。中にはけっこう色っぽさを醸し出しているような歌唱もありますが、これもナンとも言えない妙な魅力がありますね。

解説が良かったです。なかなか彼らについての情報を得る機会が少ないため、こういう解説はとても興味深く読めました。いずれにしても、このアルバムを聞いた人はこれが糸口となって、もっと聞きたいとか、色々とアラビアンポップに興味をもつようになることでしょう。
