1917年イタリア・アッシジ生まれのトロヴァヨーリは、映画音楽家としてもジャズ・ピアニストとしても日本で絶大な人気を誇るアーティストです。代表作はなんといっても「黄金の七人」ですが、本作「ジェラシー」も大ヒットした名作。エットレ・スコーラ監督1970年度制作のコメディ映画ですが、その音楽の美しさで人々の心に今も焼き付いて離れない作品。今回のリリースにあたり新たに発掘されたトラックを6曲追加収録で、ファンならずとも手にしたいサントラの金字塔!

何度か再販を重ねてこのＣＤがいまだに市場に残っているのはうれしい驚きです。　本国イタリア以外でこんなことってあるのでしょうか？　日本はいい国です。　主に60−70年代に活躍したイタリアのアルマンド・トロヴァヨーリという作曲家の代表的一枚です。　“黄金の七人”という映画のテーマ曲が最もポピュラーな（時代的に考えてみても、どうもＴＶ番組１１ＰＭのテーマ曲の元ネタはこれではないかと思うのですが）人なのですが、この“ジェラシー”もまた違った意味で彼の善さがよく出た名盤だと思います。　まるで春の日の大空に舞い上がっていくかのような高揚感溢れる−それでいてどこかセンチでチープな感もある（つまり人間臭い）テーマ曲とそれをジャズ調にアレンジしたバリエーションの数々が本当に楽しい一枚です。　こういう、軽いノリの中に、どこかものの哀れをさりげなく感じさせてくれるイキな映画音楽って昨今耳にする事はほとんどありません（なんかアングロ・サクソン系のミもフタも無いグローバリズムが浸透するにつれてそうなってきているような気が−）。　そういう味わいを出せる名人芸という点では、この作曲家はエンニオ・モリコーネをさえしのいでいると言えるでしょう。　モリコーネは善くも悪くもヘヴィでドラマチックですから。　ジャケットのセンスもなかなか。

ところでこの作品、マルチェロ・マストロヤンニ、モニカ・ヴィッティ（なんとＣＤではこの二人が歌を披露しています）、ジャンカルロ・ジャンニーニというイタリアを代表する演技派スターたちのくりひろげる悲喜劇で、かなり興味をそそられます。　ブックレットのユーモア溢れる写真の数々を見ても楽しそうです。　ＤＶＤ出ませんかねえ？
