何だよ、ただのポップスターじゃん、なんてタカをくくっていた人からすると、やるじゃん、ギターも弾けるんじゃん、って嫌味を言われそうなくらい秀逸なライブアルバム。
でも、ROOM FOR SQUARESでも、HEAVIER THINGSでも、INSIDE WANTS OUTでも、無茶苦茶巧いギターを弾いていました。以前、渋谷公会堂で体験したライブでも、ギター小僧振りを発揮していましたし。
好きな音楽を、好きな様に楽しんでいるのが伝わってくる、ライヴなアルバム。彼の音楽的嗜好やルーツを感じられます。真摯なリスペクトは、それだけで、オリジナルと同じ価値があると信じたくなります。そして、ギター小僧にも、ポップスやロック好きの人にも幅広く受け入れられそうな、嫌味な言い方をすれば優等生なアルバム。

だけど、録音状態があまり良くないですね。これが非常に勿体無い。他の人も書かれていますが。

歓声を従えて最高にカッコイイイントロで始まる“Who did you think I was”にまず鳥肌がたちます。
何度も何度も聞きたくなる懐の深いアルバムなので思わずチョット良いオーディオシステムで聞きたくなります。

でも、それはオススメしません。水の中で録音したようなモゴモゴした音にガックリきます。
『ライブアルバムだから』ではあまりにジョン・メイヤーが気の毒。今年早くもヘビーローテーションしたくなるアルバムなだけに残念です。
もっと良い仕事をしてくれ＞レコーディングエンジニア

内容としては近々出るらしいソロの3rdアルバムへの期待が高まる傑作だと思います。
ストラトキャスターの音が好きな人は迷わず買いだと思うアルバムでしょう。

従来路線とは一線を画し、Steve Jordan（Dr）、Pino Palladino（B）の強力なサポートにより、そのギタリストとしての技量を存分に発揮したBlues Rock Trioの（パーマネントグループとしての活動に願いを込めて）デビュー・ライブ・アルバム。　ここでの彼の演奏からは持ち味であるコンテンポラリーな香りを漂わせながらも、Jimi HendrixやStevie Ray Vaughanの影響を受けていることも、その系譜を継承するに足る才能ということも感じることができる。　GRAMMYでBest Male Pop Vocal Performanceを受賞した彼も魅力的ではあるが、願わくばこのトリオでの活動の継続を、更にできることであればStevieを長年支えたDouble Trouble - Chris Layton(Dr) Tommy Shannon(B）との共演を、などと夢見てしまうのはノスタルジーに過ぎるだろうか。
