SBDの池田貴史やwyolicaのazumiらとのコラボやお笑い芸人ユニットのプロデュースなど、新たな活躍を見せるスネオヘアーのアルバム。タイトルしかり、彼にはせつなさや悔しさを織り交ぜた悲哀がよく似合う。アーティスト本人の力量を存分に発揮した会心作。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

自分のなかにある負の部分(どうしようもない自己否定の感覚、未来に対する根拠のない絶望感、何をやっても無意味に思える諦念などなど……)に長い間向き合っていると、あるとき突然、何の前触れもなく気分がパーッと晴れることがある。たぶん、動物的な本能として体が“そんなに悩んでると病気になっちゃうよ”という信号を出してるんだと思うのだけど、そのときの気分は何物にも代えがたい。何を言ってるかわからないかもしれないが、わかる人には絶対にわかるこの感覚を、スネオヘアーの4枚目のアルバム『カナシミ』を聴いて僕は、はっきりと思い出した。前作『フォーク』ではとことん内省的だった彼は、本作でいきなりカラフル&ポップな方向に振り切れてしまった。池田貴史(SUPER BUTTER DOG/100s)、根岸孝旨、會田茂一といったプロデューサーの起用も、彼の意識が外に向かっていた証左。“カナシミ”を快楽に変えてしまうポップ・マジックが、本作には確かに宿っている。 (森 朋之) --- 2005年12月号

彼の描く世界は、いつもひかりと影に満ちています。今回もそれは健在です★
ハチクロのエンディングで御馴染みになった、2.ワルツ。学生時代の自分を甘酸っぱい気分で思い出してしまいます。
先行シングルカットされた、3.悲しみロックフェスティバル。ライブで聴くほうがステキでしたが、言葉と音の名コンビぶりはかなりのものです。
焦りを達観したような言葉が満載の、4.空も忙しい。
寂しいワタシのクリスマスを彩る　9.Merry Christmas to Me。
そして、商業魂がみえつつも、力強い　12.No.1。
全て、影があるからひかりがある..と気付かせてくれる名曲揃いですー。

音楽というものは不思議なもので、奏でる人の「心の原風景」が見えてしまうものである。スネオヘアーの音楽を聴いてて浮かぶ風景はカナシイ。でも決して地獄的な景色ではない。ちょっと寒いけど景色はずいぶんいいところで、海あり山ありしかし空だけは晴れきってない入道雲に覆われている。なんだかんだいいながら僕は彼が作り出すそんな町に旅をすことが好きなのである。
　ものすごく詩に哲学的なものを感じる。「あきらめる弱さ、あきらめられない弱さ」「変られない弱さ、変わってしまうのも弱さ」などというネガティブでシニカルなアングルで、自分の心を見、社会をを見ているのだろうか。
　さらに詩にうまさを感じる。「happy end」という曲「渋滞が続くのぼり斜線を背に　外ばかり見てた君はいない　飛ばす車　今はただ一人」この風景描写の巧妙さは、ユーミンの「中央フリーウェイ」ばりです。
　またスネオヘアーの作りだすクリスマスソングはどんなものだろうと期待していたらそれもすごくユニーク！歌詞の中で山下達郎氏のあの名曲をコミカルに登場させている。これにも注目！

これまでの作品よりも音の厚みが増した印象を受けました。
また、有名プロデューサーやミュージシャンとコラボレートしたことで
音のバリエーションが豊かになったとも思います。

とは言え、どの曲にも彼らしい、どこか切なく美しいメロディーラインは健在。
歌詞からは以前より前向きな傾向がうかがえて、
また一歩前進したスネオヘアーを感じることができます。

特に3,4,5,6,10,12が好み。心にひびきます。

ただ、心にひびく度は「東京ビバーク」の方が上だと思うので、
「カナシミ」には☆４つ。
