セガ・サターン版で8年前にリリースされ、PSにも移植された『知る人ぞ知る、名作』それが街〜です。

当時から、実写のサウンドノベルには賛否両論、俳優さんの静止画に食わず嫌いなゲーマーから敬遠されたせいか、知名度は同社のサウンドノベル『かまいたちの夜シリーズ』より低いですが、複雑に絡み合うシナリオはハマる人には『秀逸』の一言ではないでしょうか?

ただリリースされた90年代からみると、どうしてもシナリオの良さより『見た目の古臭さ(実写のデメリットですね)』が目立ちますが、これはしょうがないでしょう…。

さらに、少しアクの強いシナリオは、確にプレイする人を選ぶかも知れません。

しかし最後のシナリオ、『花火』のエンドを迎えた人ならこのゲームは一生忘れられないゲームになるハズです。

当時敬遠された方や、未体験の方へ。未だにファミ通の読者が選ぶTOP20にランキングされ続けていているこの名作を、この機会にプレイしてみては如何でしょうか?

シナリオのみで評価している人も多いけど、純粋に話の面白さだけで勝負すれば、良質の映画や小説には遠く及ばない。
じゃあ何が面白いかというと、このゲームをやったあとに外に出たときの奇妙な感覚が面白い。

このゲームをやった後で外に出ると、「右と左、どっちの道を通るか」といったささいな選択肢を前にしただけで
「ここでどっちを選択するかによって、見知らぬ誰かの人生が左右されるかも」
なんて考えてしまう。他者とのつながりを普段より強く意識してしまう。

そして現実社会の街は、ゲームの「街」よりももっともっと複雑な「他の主人公」たちとの関わり合いによって成り立っているのに気付く。この感覚が面白い。

サターン版発売当時の１０年前には、どんどん続編を作って脇役みんなを主人公にしていく「主人公１００人構想」があったらしく、ユーザーからシナリオを募集したりしていた。結局ラジオドラマなどを含めても１５人くらいでストップしちゃったみたいだけど、口コミの評判によってパトリックとサギ山のシナリオだけでもこうして陽の目を見ることができた。感動!

サターン以来、久しぶりにやりました。
舞台となる渋谷周辺はだいぶ様変わりしてしまい、さすがに時代の流れを感じさせますが多様なストーリーとザッピングシステムはまったく色あせていません。

今でもまったく新しいタイプのアドベンチャーゲームであり、誰か続編を作って欲しいです。
