今作は「マリオ＆ルイージRPG」の続編ですが、
ストーリー自体はそんなにつながりないので、前作をプレイしてなくても楽しめます。

ストーリーは相変わらず良く出来ていて、
最近多い、ストーリーが希薄なRPGより遥かにいいです！
前作よりダークっぽさが漂うストーリーですが、
まあお子さんが怖がるほどのものではないのでご安心を。
そして相変わらずルイージの扱いがカワイソウで笑えますｗ
まああんまり酷すぎてかえって笑えない場面もありましたが……。

フィールドや戦闘でのアクションは、べビィたちの参戦で４ボタンになり、
アクション要素がより多くなっています。
そのせいか、前回より難易度がけっこう上がってます。
アクション苦手だとちょっとキツイかもしれませんが、
コツをつかめればすぐに慣れることは出来ると思います。

ただし、前作を上回っているか？と聞かれますと、
正直、前作のほうが良かったかもしれません。
その理由をいくつか挙げると、
まず今作はストーリー上、現代と過去を行き来するわけなんですが、
現代はキノコ城から出ることが出来ません。
過去ではいくつものエリアに分かれてますが、エリアからエリアへ直接移動できません。
また、ミニゲームが少なくなっていたり、マリオたち以外のキャラが少なくなっていたりなど、
何か閉鎖的というか、自由度が少なくなった感じがします。

その点は残念でしたが、しかし、
RPGとしてみれば全然イイ出来なので、
前作をプレイしてる人もプレイしてない人も、
是非遊んでみてください！
たぶん、買わなきゃよかった……と思うことはないと思います。

１周目を遊んだ印象は非常に良かった。何が良いかというと、まず戦闘が面白いこと。
自分の攻撃や敵の攻撃を受ける度にタイミングを合わせてボタンを押すのでRPGながら戦闘に暇しない。これが大きい。
そして、RPGでありながらアクション的要素も盛り込まれているのが面白い。マップを移動する時も、ただ動くわけではないのだ。

非常に好印象だった１周目だが、クリア後、２周目以降に評価は大きく変わる。
まずクリア後だが、することがない。ストーリーはほぼ一本道なので自由度が低い。寄り道できないわけではないが、する意味がない。サブイベントが充実していない。
そして２周目をプレイすると、序盤は操作の説明に徹していたことが分かる。そしてこれがスキップできないのが致命的。
４人分のアクションを覚える必要があるため、１周目の説明は非常に丁寧で分かりやすいのだが、操作方法を熟知している２周目以降になると、その手取り足取りな解説がうるさく感じてしまうかもしれない。

１周目は面白かったのだが、いつまでも末永く遊べるか、と言われるとかなり疑問。

ＲＰＧってどうしても苦手意識があり、購入しませんが前回に続き楽しくできました。
バトルの時、操作のタイミングが合わなかったり押し間違えたりと私にとってはちょっと難しいこともありました。
でも、ほとんど行き詰まることなくラスボスもまでたどり着き倒すことができとても満足できたゲームです。
